Earthquakes to be blamed on business and industry?

Posted on 12/27/2003 10:12:51 PM PST by Right Stuff News

This past week, there have been magnitude-6.0 or greater earthquakes in California, New Caledonia, and Iran. If the Earth-worshippers could somehow blame this on industrialization or capitalism, they could make billions in regulatory madness! Nevertheless, I am still waiting for them to link loggers to Radon in basements, power lines to Earth's weakening magnetic field, and pollution to dimming of the sun...

That dog would never hunt. Earthquakes have been a fact of life long before human industry ever impacted the planet.

Linking business and industry to an earthquake in Arg-e-Blam is a bit of a reach.

There are 150+ Magnitude 6.0+ earthquakes worldwide a year, or an average of about 3 a week.

Of course, they don't happen precisely evenly spaced in time, so it's not unusual at all to get 6 or more in a given week.

Fortunately, most are offshore or fairly irrelevant places like the Rat Islands, etc.

Different beast altogether. It was only in the past 40 years that we even began to understand the ozone layer. Earthquakes have been a known quantity that long predate written history.

So have global climate fluctuations but that hasn't stopped the left one little bit.

Yet it has only been in the last two centuries that we began keeping records on climate changes. Again, earthquakes have been a known quanties for several millennia.

It's been done already. About forty years ago.

"In the late 1960s toxic waste injected into hazardous waste disposal wells at Rocky Flats, near Denver apparently caused earthquakes to occur in a previously earthquake quiet area. The focal depths of the quakes ranged between 4 and 8 km, just below the 3.8 km-deep wells."
