What is a 13 year old doing out at 12:30 AM committing crimes ---- where on earth are the parents? That was my first question. They only way my daughter will be a situation like this would be if she lies to us about who she's with, or if the parents of the person she's with drop the ball. My daugher does not run around with a group of kids late at night unsupervised by a responsible adult. Nor does she run around with kids who are more than a year older than she is. Frankly, my daughter doesn't have the good sense God gave a turnip and I don't quite trust in her ability not to bow to peer pressure.

Yes that peer pressure can be pretty bad. Maybe the parents of the 13 year olds were trying but their kids got in with the wrong crowd. I'd be leery of letting a 13 year old hang out with 17 year olds ---- you still have some control at that age.
