No see this fellow actually created Al Gore who then created the internet. See it does all make sense (not!).

"The system, which he devised in his spare time in 1991..."Huh. In my spare time I make bird houses.
Actually, I invented bird houses.

So, the Brits think one of their own invented the Internet in his spare time back in 1991?...Wasn't the Internet a product of a US Defense Department program to link key defense sites? And as I recall, I was already an AOL user back in 1991, when this guy was still "tinkering."

Crucially, Mr Berners-Lee gave his invention away Which makes him a "Communist" to many here!

Knighthood for Publicity-Shy Inventor of the World Wide Web I don't think Al Gore deserves knighthood, and I've never known him to be "publicity-shy".
What's that? It's some other guy? oh, nevermind...

Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web, HTML (hypertext markup language), HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) and URLs (Universal Resource Locators) in 1990. Tim Berners-Lee was the primary author of html, assisted by his colleagues at CERN, an international scientific organization based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Read all about it.

Could somebody explain what OBE, CMG, etc. mean?1. Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire
2. Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George
To: pau1f0rd
Not the internet - he invented the World Wide WebPardon my ignorance, but what's the difference?
