What Ever Happened To Peace On Earth. (Barf Alert. CODE ORANGE)
AMERICAN-STATESMAN ^ | Tuesday, December 30, 2003 | Willie Nelson

Posted on 01/01/2004 9:01:13 AM PST by .cnI redruM

Willie Nelson, who has endorsed Dennis Kucinich for President, and who will lead a fundraising concert for Kucinich's campaign in Austin, Texas, on Jan. 3, 2004, wrote a new song on Christmas that he will perform in public for the first time at the Austin concert.

There's so many things going on in the world Babies dying Mothers crying How much oil is one human life worth And what ever happened to peace on earth

We believe everything that they tell us They're gonna' kill us So we gotta' kill them first But I remember a commandment Thou shall not kill How much is that soldier's life worth And whatever happened to peace on earth

(Bridge) And the bewildered herd is still believing Everything we've been told from our birth Hell they won't lie to me Not on my own damn TV But how much is a liar's word worth And whatever happened to peace on earth

So I guess it's just Do unto others before they do it to you Let's just kill em' all and let God sort em' out Is this what God wants us to do

(Repeat Bridge) And the bewildered herd is still believing Everything we've been told from our birth Hell they won't lie to me Not on my own damn TV But how much is a liar's word worth And whatever happened to peace on earth

Now you probably won't hear this on your radio Probably not on your local TV But if there's a time, and if you're ever so inclined You can always hear it from me How much is one picker's word worth And whatever happened to peace on earth

But don't confuse caring for weakness You can't put that label on me The truth is my weapon of mass protection And I believe truth sets you free

(Bridge) And the bewildered herd is still believing Everything we've been told from our birth Hell they won't lie to me Not on my own damn TV But how much is a liar's word worth And whatever happened to peace on earth

But how much is a liar's word worth

"When I left office, there was a substantial amount of biological and chemical material unaccounted for," Clinton said on CNN's Larry King Live.

Clinton said he never found out whether a U.S.-British bombing campaign he ordered in 1998 ended Saddam's capability of producing chemical and biological weapons.

"We might have gotten it all, we might have gotten half of it, we might have gotten none of it," he said.

Maybe Willie prefers to take the word of this liar.

Asked if he's concerned that the new song -- which asks such biting questions as "How much oil is one human life worth?" and "How much is a liar's word worth?" -- might cause a backlash with conservative country music fans, Nelson said, "I sure hope so. I don't care if people say, `Who the hell does he think he is?' I know who I am."

And the rest of us know who he is--a mildly entertaining drunk who can play a mean guitar when it suits him. And whose political opinions have absolutely no weight in the real world.

As for "whatever happened to peace on earth"--it got buried in the rubble of the Twin Towers.

Gee, I hope Willie will sing the song I'm working on. The melody is really great but I'm still working on the words. What I have so far, goes like this:

"How low will an aging drug besotted picker get

to pimp his talent to pay off an IRS debt (bridge)"

Then there are the parts about the pick up truck, doggies, Molly Ivins, horse s**t, more dope, broke, more IRS and lots of phrases right off lefty bumper stickers.

Gosh, I hope Willie likes it. How's it sound to you?

Reminds me of this "Golden Oldie" from 1966:

The eastern world it tis explodin',
violence flarin', bullets loadin',
you're old enough to kill but not for votin',
you don't believe in war, what's that gun you're totin',
and even the Jordan river has bodies floatin',
but you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Don't you understand, what I'm trying to say?
Can't you see the fear that I'm feeling today?
If the button is pushed, there's no running away,
There'll be noone to save with the world in a grave,
take a look around you, boy, it's bound to scare you, boy,
but you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Yeah, my blood's so mad, feels like coagulatin',
I'm sittin' here, just contemplatin',
I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation,
handful of Senators don't pass legislation,
and marches alone can't bring integration,
when human respect is disintegratin',
this whole crazy world is just too frustratin',
and you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in Red China!
Tehn take a look around to Selma, Alabama!
Ah, you may leave here, for four days in space,
but when your eturn, it's the same old place,
the poundin' of the drums, th pride and disgrace,
you can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace,
hate your next-door-neighbour, but don't forget to say grace,
and you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

It's hard to believe how naive leftist idealogues are. Guess Willie missed 9-11.

It's also kinda sad how they misapply carefully selected quotes from the Bible to misrepresent God as being a pacifist in the face of evil.

They seem to have ignored that whole verse that Quentin Tarantino had the hit man quoting in Pulp Fiction. "And you will know my name is Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon you."
