US relief package for illegal immigrants to be unveiled Wednesday
Hindustan Times ^ | Washington, January 4

Posted on 01/04/2004 1:08:59 PM PST by DeaconBenjamin

US President George W Bush is expected to unveil some protection and relief to an estimated eight million illegal immigrants or undocumented workers in the US.

Officials said that the Bush plan to be unveiled on Wednesday would contain a new system to help workers who want to enter from Mexico or other countries if they have jobs waiting for them in the US.

It would also include a mechanism for some undocumented residents to continue working in the US and get on a path to legal status.

Undocumented workers now pay billions of dollars annually into Social Security but do not collect benefits because they give their employers fraudulent Social Security numbers.

The Bush plan would propose protections for the Social Security taxes paid by the workers.

They don't need protection and relief. We do.

George Bush took an oath to a Constitution that exists by the people of the United States: citizens, not invading criminals.

Its because they are ILLEGAL.

Sad to say, but I hold no hope that Wed's announcement will remedy the INVASION of ILLEGALS that plague our land.

Eight million my ass. It's more like fifteen to twenty million at this time.

Not only does he plan to reward those who have and are breaking our laws currently, he plans to open the borders to still more foreign nationals to curcumvent current law by proposing exansion of entry into this nation.

El Presidente Boosh, if you flood a market with a commodity, what happens to that commodity's value? If you flood this nation with cheap labor, what happens to the wages of those who already have jobs?

It's more of the same, open season on wage earners in this nation. Bush has been a miserable failure with regard to immigration and creating jobs. We can all work for $10.00 per hour, but I fail to understand how that will create meaningful revenue for the federal government. It is however very effective in creating vast regions of poverty, gang activity and deteriating infrastructure.

There are several banks that are behind this seemingly inexplicable move by President Bush. They are Wells Fargo, CitiBank and Bank of America. They see a huge market with illegals opening bank accounts while they are here (using the phony matricular consular for identification of course) getting home loans, and using these banks for wiring money to mexico. Some of you may remember a link that was posted by a patriotic freeper, to the US Treasury department about whether or not the United States should allow the matricular consular card as a valid ID for bank accounts. I don't know what the results of that survey were, but you can bet, these banks had a lot of influence on the outcome.

Now they are using that influence to "force" the president and homeland security to back down, while the state department and treasury department set the policy for those illegals.

The problem is bigger than the presidency. We have corporations exerting unnatural and undue influence over a policy that the citizens clearly abhor. Maybe some letters to OP ED pages discussing the banks role in the destruction of our national sovereignty would be in order. Or a few well placed phonecalls to some bank officials letting them know we do not appreciate their negative influence on the American taxpayer and the function of _our_ government.

Agreed.

Whether you call them illegal aliens, undocumented immigrants or societal parasites, these foreigners are in the US illegally and are criminals. They shouldn't be accorded the same rights and/or privileges that are available to American citizens. Reagan regreted offering blanket amnesty to illegals back in the mid-1980`s. Bush should've learned from Reagan's mistake and work to make sure that error is not repeated.

On the contrary, the announcement should make the invasion worse.

How about the billions that they DON'T pay? Will we get that back, too? Any "package" will simply be an incentive for the next 6 million. It is very easy for Americans to pay into social security and then lose benefits; all you have to do is go work for a governmental agency after having worked less than 40 quarters under social security. No "package" without a SEALED boeder makes any sense.

"US relief package for illegal immigrants to be unveiled Wednesday."

o.k.

What is WRONG with this picture?

The president of the United States is about to announce one of the most precedent setting political and econmic decisions of our lifetime and it gets printed in AN INDIAN RAG before we even see it in Dallas or Chicago?

Undocumented workers now pay billions of dollars annually into Social Security but do not collect benefits because they give their employers fraudulent Social Security numbers.

Can this even be verified? How does the SSA know that the billions came from undocumented workers? Or do they only know that the books don't balance? Couldn't at least some of it be caused by employers inadvertently sending in an incorrect card number?

I'd like to see SSA back up these numbers.
