Ray Davies (news) of the celebrated British rock band the Kinks was shot in the leg while chasing thieves who snatched a purse from a woman he was with

"I'm a 20th century man and I don't want to die here."

More reason to admire Ray besides having written some great, great songs. Unfortunately, most of the Kinks' best songs are unknown. Songs like, "God's Children," "Oklahoma, USA," "Alcohol," "20th Century Man," and the entire "Village Green Preservation Society" album.
