[history]
White House officials braced yesterday for a forthcoming book in which former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill lavishes criticism on the Bush administration.
The book, "The Price of Loyalty," chronicles O'Neill's tenure at Treasury and conveys his impression of President Bush as a man uninterested in government policy, who tuned out detailed discussion of the economy and whose decisions were driven primarily by partisan politics.

Good timing for this book. Economy and the market on the rise. Bush's poll numbers on how he is handling the economy are up too. Can you say "remainder bin"?

[O'Neil] conveys his impression of President Bush as a man uninterested in government policy, who tuned out detailed discussion of the economy and whose decisions were driven primarily by partisan politics.Sounds like the same garbage certain people spewed about PresReagan. Sounds like sour grapes to me.
"I doubt if there are 10 people in the country who would vote against Bush because of something Paul O'Neill said in a book. Ninety-nine percent of Americans don't even know who Paul O'Neill is," Sabato said.

CBS probably has 4 hours of tape where O'Neill praises Bush and 10 minutes that criticize Bush. CBS will air the 10 minutes of criticism. Believe nothing CBS says.
CBS could interview me about my wife. I could praise her for an hour and criticize her for 30 seconds about some stupid pet peeve I have. CBS would air it to look like I hate her and I'm planning to hire a hit man.
People have no idea how much these left wing Marxist reporters hate you, your religion, your lifestyle and your beliefs. Imagine Stalin's Pravda reporting on America. That's the New York media.

I'd say the economy is doing nicely and Paul choose poorly to write this book.....

Suppose Bush regrets ever appointing this guy, in the first place?
Notice the economy perked up, after this guy got hissef canned?
Sour grapes, to cover his cannin?
All wrapped up in pointy-head university babble-speak.

"He publicly expressed the view that Bush's $1.6 trillion tax cut, to be spread over 10 years, would do little to restart a sagging economy and would balloon the federal deficit. "Seems like he was right on the money. The tax cut to investors was put into raising the market and not into job creation as promised. Investors are recovering but the worker economy is not. The long run ends on election day.

Suppose Bush regrets ever appointing this guy, in the first place? I'm SURE he does regret it. O'Neill was constantly running off at the mouth about how anti-environmental GWB was. O'Neill believes in Global Warming. He also believes in banning American's right to gun ownership. It is almost a certainty that he was the Number One Culprit in trying to prevent ANY defense budget increases when GWB took office. And all in all, it is safe to say, that he is a RINO so far off the ranch that he makes Tom Ridge, or Spector the Defector, etc look right wing. NOT! This guy was a dangerous Fifth Columnist...on the order of the hold-overs that GWB kept such as Freeh, Tenet, Mineta, etc. With this much intrigue going on, and those with ulterior motivations crammed into this Administration...it frankly is a wonder that anything gets done.

He publicly expressed the view that Bush's $1.6 trillion tax cut, to be spread over 10 years, would do little to restart a sagging economy and would balloon the federal deficit. He also was critical of the Bush administration's decision to impose import tariffs to protect the domestic steel industry.Right on the money, Paul. Short live King George's socialist dictatorship.

Fortunately, he is also one of the most BORING people alive. The 60 minutes segment should put most people to sleep, if they aren't celebrating the WIN of the GREEN BAY PACKERS over the Philadelphia cheesesteaks.

Fair Criticism or Sour Grapes???
To: ex-snook
You'd be correct if the President, any President, can change the buying habits of the American people, who are obsessed with getting the best deal, and to hell with the obvious repercussions. The very people who lost jobs were the same ones buying products manufactured overseas, marketed by Wal-Mart and thousands of other companies trying to make the highest profit they can. You can't have it both ways!
