Some of Bush's recent statements leave me wondering if he is taking the election for granted?

Your comment re: McPain-Sweingold may be too true for comfort.
It is one reason I think it CRITICAL that we make as much effort as possible to get our view across as strongly as possible while we still can.

The best news is that the election follows the ban expiration date so closely, every candidate knows that "the people" have short memories.
But any of them who look at the results of the last couple of elections and "gun control" will know the our memory is NOT that short!

We may have lost the right to exercise the our first amendment rights just prior to an election, but we still get to vote our issues, in private.

Leave NO Doubt in your minds that the Anti Gun RAT's will do everything in their power to sneak some legislation into a bill that is going to pass.

Especially one that will make the Pub's look bad if they don't pass it.

It's been done before.

Plus Bush has said he would renew the AWB and do not forget that he singned the CFR Bill even though he said was unconstitional.

So expect that he would renew the AWB if it reaches his desk in any shape form or fashion.

I'm beginning to think the best election outcome would be for the GOP to pick up about a dozen or more House seats, a couple Senate seats (Georgia, for example) and for Bush to LOSE.

Then we'll see the sort of legislative stalemate that at least prevents any more poorly-thought-out though good-intentioned "compassionate conservative" laws.
