[history]
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's proposed budget doesn't ``blow up boxes'' as he promised, but at least it lights some fuses.
Legislative Democrats, on the other hand, have responded by crawling into boxes and pulling down the lids. They'll have to do better than crying, ``Save the status quo.''

Democrats don't have to abandon their values to woo taxpayers. They just have to convince them that they have enough appreciation for the people who pay taxes to see that the money will be spent wisely. This is absolutely wrong.
What the CA government has to do is lower taxes to prevent taxpayers from voting with their feet.
Somewhere along the line the realization that when individuals and companies move out of the state a stream of tax revenue is lost forever just has to dawn on these guys. It is far better to get 80% of what they have now than to get 0%.

The Democrats are incapable of protecting the taxpayers' interests. To state they can provide better funding for government simultaneously with improved public services is to square the circle. And pigs can fly!

There's no conflict between being for educational opportunity and favoring higher fees for upper-income families sending their children to UC. How about this little chunk of double taxation. The lower income folks pay very little taxes and low fees, upper income people pay the taxes that support the schools and the f*ing 'RATS want higher fees to use them. Every friggin thing in this state has an extra fee in it to help redistribute wealth.

I propose a 39% California income tax surcharge on the total net income earned by Hollywood Democrats who earned over $1 million last year.
