[history]
YALIE Barbara Bush has broken a family tradition. Barbara, 22 and a senior, has not been "tapped" to join the exclusive and secret Skull & Bones society. "It's particularly galling for Barbara, because both her father and grandfather were members of the Skull & Bones, as was her great-grandfather, Prescott," reports the London Telegraph. "Sadly, her contribution to campus life has been lacking." As an alternative, she'll join the Yale Potato Sack Relay Team, but the Telegraph said, "it's almost considered better not to get 'tapped' for anywhere at all."

Isn't she beautiful? I have to wonder how the London Telegraph or The New York Times are qualified to know whether this "galls" her or not. I have a feeling that this independent little young lady probably couldn't care less.

Odd. I never considered that they would admit women.

Here is the London Telegraph article (more of the same)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=%2Fopinion%2F2004%2F01%2F21%2Fdp2101.xml&secureRefresh=true&_requestid=20369 High society snub for Bush Jnr
A snub of epic proportions for George Bush's occasionally wayward daughter Barbara, a (fourth generation) student at Yale.
The 22-year-old, now in her final year at the super-grand Ivy League university, has failed to be "tapped" to join the Skull & Bones, a quasi-masonic society including students from influential families.
"It's particularly galling for Barbara, because both her father and grandfather were members of the Skull & Bones, as was her great-grandfather, Prescott," says my mole at Yale. "Sadly, her contribution to campus life has been lacking."
Fortunately, though, Barbara - whose twin sister, Jenna, is at the University of Texas - has found an alternative society to join.
"It's called the Yale Potato Sack Relay Team, but it's not exactly prestigious. To be honest, it's almost considered better not to get 'tapped' for anywhere at all."

Oh, she missed her chance to become part of the Trilateral/CFR/New World Order. For people trying to dominate the Earth, the Bones are very exclusive. :)

When she runs for President one day, divorced Lesbian hausfrau Chelsea can't call her part of the S&B conspiracy...

Isn't she beautiful? BTW, I just realized today that Barbara is actually much hotter than Jena.

My useless observation:
I think she should be hooked up with Tom Brady of the NE Patriots. Quite a match could be made.

I THINK that they are referred to as BONESMEN because gender dictates who could be members. Have there ever been a female member of the skull and bones

Too bad she couldn't be like Chelsea Clinton and get into Oxford, spend the next two years jet setting around Europe while being publically fondled by her boyfriend and then land a job in New York with a six figure income despite having no experience and a dubious academic record.
To: presidio9
My mistake. She didn't even attend Yale.
Thanks for the list. Interesting read.

Mr. Bird: Odd. I never considered that they would admit women. I thought S&B was an all-male group.
The membership roster provided in the link by Presidio doesn't include any female names... at least none that jumped out during my quick scan. I don't think they've had a recent change of position that would allow women members, although I can't be sure of that.
I think it's likely that she wasn't invited because she was ineligible for membership on the basis of gender, and that this "newspaper" invented an insult to the Bush family on that basis.
As a member of a Greek organization (which Scull and Bones is not, but it's close), I can promise you that no child and grandchild of a President would have been black-balled. Even Chelsea and Amy Carter could have had their pick of sororities if they chose that direction.

Actually the list seems to only go to the 1980's, so the Society may have gone co-ed after that.
