Dean: 'Fewer Crazy, Red-Faced Rants'

Democratic presidential hopeful Howard Dean was able to step away Thursday from his intensive campaigning in New Hampshire long enough to deliver the Top Ten List on "The Late Show With David Letterman." The former front-runner has been scrambling to make up for a third-place finish in the Iowa caucuses and has taken some heat (from Letterman, among others) for his rousing concession speech Monday night following the Iowa caucuses.

The Top Ten topic: "Ways I, Howard Dean, Can Turn Things Around." No. 10, switch to decaf. No. 9, unveil new slogan: "Vote for Dean and get $1 off your next purchase at Blimpie's." No. 8, marry Rachel on the final episode of "Friends." No. 7, don't change a thing— it's going great. No. 6, show a little more skin. No. 5, go on "American Idol" and give `em a taste of these pipes. No. 4, start working out and speaking with an Austrian accent. No. 3, I can't give specifics yet, but it involves Ted Danson. No. 2, fire the staffer who suggested we do this lousy Top Ten List instead of actually campaigning.

And No. 1: Oh, I don't know — maybe fewer crazy, red-faced rants?

How about a little old-fashioned honesty? It works for GWB.

Too late. The world has already seen it. Maybe he can get a job in the filing dept. at one of the news organizations.

I saw Letterman last night. Dean looked more stilted and uncomfortable than Algore at a lumber convention. I don't think Dean is helping his image rehab.

Once a red-faced ranter, always a red-faced ranter. He does have high entertainment value on the stump, though. In that regard, I'm going to miss ol' Howie.

Why do these liberals think that an appearance on Letterman/Leno and the like will help their image. Oh wait, something about Clintoon on MTV perhaps? Sorry fellas, those days are over. You've lost your credibility.

Maybe he can start doing standup, ala Sam Kennison?

Hillary is as angry as Dean but a lot smarter. Her meltdowns are not televised.

Dean looked more stilted and uncomfortable than Algore at a lumber convention.

The question is: When will the pressure of trying to act normal all the time cause him to pop off an explosion that will make the Iowa rant look like a Unitarian sermon?

Now that you mention it, Dean's rantings do sound a bit like Kinnison's rendition of "Wild Thing." Hmmm.... Could it be that Doctor Disaster is actually channeling the spirit of Sam Kinnison?
