[history]
ABOUT THIS time every election cycle, we receive stern lectures from The Wall Street Journal and kindred spirits warning that the prospective Democratic nominee is sounding alarmingly "populist." Front-runner John Kerry is following the pattern, and so are a lot of commentators. In his victory speech Tuesday night, Kerry declared, "I have a message for the influence peddlers, for the polluters, the HMOs, the big drug companies that get in the way, the big oil, and the special interests who now call the White House their home: We're coming. You're going."

Hell, John Kerry IS one of the privileged.
He and the other limousine liberals don't expect any change in their lifestyle - BUT if you're an ordinary man or woman trying to get ahead financially, forget it!

"Kerry and the other populists in the Democratic field should take these elite assaults as signs that America's most privileged are getting a little worried and wear them as badges of honor." America's Elites????
You mean like that guy who married TWO heiresses to multimillion-dollar fortunes -- and who somehow owns a multimillion-dollar art collection and multimillion-dollar house (which he mortgaged to cover his campaign expenses) without ever making more than a government salary.
THAT guy?

What is interesting is that Kuttner is a massive Clinton guy; this article indicates the Clintons are trying to sign on with the Kerry and ditch their support for Edwards and Clark.

I'm sure Mr. Soros is very worried, and will decide to spend his money elsewhere ... NOT!

I just don't take the "populism" of someone who has to mortgage his Renoir paintings to get a few more million dollars very seriously. A populist is someone who has to pawn his "Dogs playing poker".

OK, I made it up to here before I sarted to go blind:
Voters are vaguely aware that HMOs, drug companies, and oil companies have too much entree to the White House at the expense of ordinary people. I don't even know where to begin.
Any voter who supports a candidate touting slogans from his/her "lil' Red Book" should be flogged. The candidate, well I like to see the feet dangle...

Words from the clueless are always amusing.
Hopefully, the RAT candidate will be sounding these themes early and often paving the way for a colossal defeat in Nov.

Its always rather ironic that the most decent guy gets the least amount of the vote. I think Clinton clearly showed that to get to the Presidency as a Dem, you need to be a REAL BIG slime ball

Second, when Democrats win, it's usually because voters support them to redress the inequities between society's most powerful and the average American. Democrats lose when that message gets muddled. Wrong. There was nothing "muddled" about McGovern's or Mondale's messages.
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
Kerry must have forgotten that it was his elite partner, Teddy Kenndy, that wrote the law creating HMO's. People and the liberal media never point this out. The HMO's never existed until Kennedy and his liberal buddies created them. Just like all liberal, feel good intentions, they suck. First liberals create problems and then claim only they can fix them. Democrats are to blame for our so-called health care crisis.
