[history]
Confronting anti-tax Republicans in the Legislature, U.S. Sen. John W. Warner, R-Va., yesterday called for tax increases, boosts in fees and budget cuts to improve Virginia schools, health care and transportation.
"Politics be damned! Let's consider what's best for the men and women of this great state and their families and children," said Warner, considered the senior statesman in the state GOP.

I guess he's not running for reelection, when you say "voters be damned".

Republicans are in a dilemma. The people think that education can only be improved with more money, they demand health care and prescription drug coverage, they want all the social programs money can buy and if Republicans won't give it to them then they elect Democrats who will. We can't get spending under control because the voters of this country won't allow it.
Voters remind me of some kids. If they don't get what they want they throw a tantrum. Only instead of a literal tantrum they throw those out of office who won't give them what they want.

Maybe Senator Warner would like to try to combat the waste and fraud associated with our money. Anyone know what pork Warner takes home?

Interesting, VA must be full of Rino's, Guverment workers and Snipers...yesterday I checked with Mfg Mgr. client (formerly in SC) who recently transferred to VA. I asked how the new job was and his quizzical response was, I am OK with the job but I am contemplating seeking a new position back home in SC. I asked why, his answer was "VA is a dark place, I miss the lightness of SC"!
He is originally from IL.

Okay, I'm in. It's past time for Gentleman Jawn to go.
Is his term up in 2006?

Interesting, VA must be full of Rino's Not true. We have our share. Most are "come here's" or damnyankees.
I'd be interested in knowing where in Virginia your friend lives/works.
To: W04Man
He said "politics" not "voters" and I'd be willing to bet that yes he is planning to run again.
He's a stubborn old coot.

Eric Cantor for Senate!
To: Russ
...they demand health care and prescription drug coverage...Rush Limbaugh made a great point not too long ago about that. He said (correctly, I believe) that those are totally manufactured issues by the commies and that there is no massive mandate for health care or drug coverage. I'll guarantee you that if that spending was tossed, then the only complainers would be the commies and a few old folks.

John and Mark Warner: The problem with the budget can be sumarized this way: Virginia's citizens are allowed to keep too much of their own money.

Okay, I'm in. It's past time for Gentleman Jawn to go. He's been in since, what, 1978? It was past time for him to go in about 1985 or so ;)

John Warner only won in 1978 because Dick Obenshain was killed in a plane crash. Warner was the next closest vote getter at the convention, so the party put him in as candidate.
Back in those days he was a little more palatable (although just as much of a clymer) because we weren't winning anywhere.
Now, Dick Obenshain's son Mark is a State Senator and his daugther Kate Obenshain Griffin is Chairman of the Virginia GOP.
I'd pay money to see one of them challenge him. I would not expect Cantor to make the move until it's an open seat.
To: GodBlessRonaldReagan
Eric Cantor for Senate! So far Cantor has voted 100% with the Bush agenda, CFR, Socialized Pills, etc, etc..
He's no better than Jawn, just a rubber stamp for Bush.
Hasn't uttered a peep about Amnesty for Illegals, Welfare for Artists, or any other upcoming progressive entitlements and pardons proposed by our POTUS.
