I find it interesting that Monsieur Kerry refers to himself and the rest of the "hero's" as deserters. Sometimes these elitists are just to clever for their own good. By claiming solidarity with the cowards that deserted the country in our fight for survival in the American Revolution he shows the depth of hatred for the Constitution and the sacrifices so many have made for generations.

But, for all who wonder if he has what it takes to win the War on Terror, his willingness to identify with soldiers who desert "because the going was rough" should answer your questions.

Where did he refer to himself as a deserter? The term "winter soldier" seems to be doing just the opposite. SUMMER soldiers are the ones who only hang in there when it's easiest...when it's warm and sunny. A winter soldier, otoh, would be the one who toughs it out. I think he is saying he and his buddies in washington toughed it out.

Since when is desertion because the "going gets rough" a higher calling? Why do you think Jane et al made the treasonous radio addresses to our troops. By personally attacking our soldiers they were hoping for desertions.

I see your point, but he specifically states it is a PLAY on words. If as you fell he is stating HE is the non deserter, why did he become part of a group that stood outside military bases calling for military members to desert?

Kerry is actually calling all those who fought in Vietnam, but didn't protest the war when they came home, the summer soldiers and deserters. This may be more shocking than your interpretation.

I am not misinterpreting the true term. I am discussing the ususal left/socialist/commie/dum twisting of history to suit their latest attempt to destroy this country. When Kerry disavows his association with the calls to our troops to desert, I will gladly ask for this to be pulled. Or if Jim et al feel it needs to be pulled ,so be it.

Thank you, but they worked very hard to get the members of the military to desert BEFORE they went. I'll never forget going to two rallies in S.D.Ca. (It pays to go to the enemy camp sometimes) One with Jane Fonda and one with Ralph Nader. It was hard to hear but these people are true believers.

Kerry is an insult to every man or woman who defended this county in ANY war and especially to all those who went to Vietnam and came home. He insults all those who love this country and defend it's name, it's reputation and it's soverignity. Anyone who runs on a thirty year old war record (which most won't even talk about) is really reaching and I for one am tired hearing out of his mouth how patriotic he is. The very fact that he has to tell us about it is a bore....this guy is a raging BORE. His discusting talk about himself and his fence jumping makes him a typical Democratic loudmouth running for President. They are a dime a dozen....and thats a lot of money.

i don't disagree with that conclusion, but he was not calling himself a deserter or a traitor, he was CALLING himself a true patriot. That is different from BEING a true patriot, of course, but the title of the thread is wrong that he is calling himself a deserter.
