It expires in September. He cant sign the renewal after the election, as it will have sunsetted. If it gets to his desk before September, he will sign it.

IMO you are incorrect. If he does Kerry wins by a landslide while gun owners go to the range and practice on election day instead of voting.

President Bush has already said he will sign it.
Now you might buy the media's attempt to portray him as an untrustworthy liar, but having watched his actions, I believe him to be a man of his word.
He will do exactly what he has said he would do.
There are several major domestic policy issues where President Bush has stated his position, that I totally oppose.
I will not change my position, and neither will he.
I admire him for that, even when I think he is dead wrong.
It is my duty as a citizen to decide who I think is the best choice for POTUS in November.
But you can bank on the fact that President Bush will sign the extension of the AWB if it hits his desk.
He will not be re-elected if he does.
