Of course, the Ann Arbor Snooze gave it just two stars......said most of the audience wouldn't get it and they would only come away being overwhelmed with violence.....

I'd give it three stars too. It has a great overall theme and some very good moments but the main characters need greater depth and the Satan character was laughable and not evil. There should've been more of an emphasis on the character motivation. I have no problem with the overall story and the authentic-looking torturing.
Had the film had about 30/40 more minutes of character development exploring questions such as why did Judas betray Jesus, what was really motivating the Pharisees, what did Jesus' apostles see in him, etc., the film would be worthy of four stars imo.

This is what John Hart at MSNBC had to say about the movie.
"
if you flogged yourself for two hours and six minutes, the result might be about as enlightening as this film."
How could a critic have this reaction when for the most part audiences are giving it 5 stars? I don't get it.

I will rate this movie as 1000 or million of stars. Movie like this can not be rated it is classic and faithful to its core. When I saw that movie till this day I think how much Our Lord has suffered for little person like me a sinner and not worthy of anything especially His death. Read Ann Coulter article of The passion of the liberal

I have a simple rule when reading movie reviews in the A2 Snooze; if Christopher Whatshisname pans a movie, it's probably pretty good.
and vice versa

Five stars.
But the real "star" is Jesus.

I would give the film 5 stars. One review that somewaht surprised me was Ebert- who only gives 4 stars for his highest ranking- and he gave "The Passion of The Christ" 4 stars.
