[history]
March 5, 2004 -- A gun-wielding robber got his comeuppance from one of his victims last night - a federal agent who gunned him down during a robbery attempt on the Lower East Side, cops said. The unidentified agent was confronted by the robber on the first floor of an Avenue D building around 11:30 p.m.

Police recovered a handgun from the scene and would not say what agency the Fed...worked for.Just a wild guess here, but I betcha it wasn't the National Endowment for the Arts...

I dunno, they let just about anyone be armed these days. Way too many Federal agencies have armed agents, it's completely out of control.

"Some animals are more equal than others" ping. Too bad private citizens in NY can't do this.

Just a wild guess here, but I betcha it wasn't the National Endowment for the Arts... Never assume. I would bet you dollars to donuts that the IG's office of the NEA is armed. Being armed gets you a special twenty-and-out retirement package, don'tcha know.
Funny how the government has no problem with it's own people walking around with guns all day, but the hoi polloi cannot be allowed to have concealed carry.
On second thought, not funny at all.

Well..at least he resembled the robber ....uhm...who was wearing similar clothing and reported in the area.

One robbery stopped, and many future robberies prevented.
Even better, though, is that a private citizen in New York would just have to submit to the robbery and pray he doesn't get killed anyway. Sure, having a gun would help many individuals prevent robbery, and the thought that many people carried guns would inspire second thoughts in robbers, but think of how much better a crime-fighting strategy it is to leave people defenseless and waiting on 911. NY sure has the right idea.

I know this area very well and it is crawling with low level heroin and cocaine dealers. My guess is the agent was DEA.

Oh come on now. What's wrong with a Park Ranger packing an MP-5? Gotta control those darn litterbugs ya know.
Only kidding of course. As you're correct, this 'Fed' could be; FBI, ATF, DEA, US Marshal, Secret Service, Immigration, CIA, US Customs, IRS, NSA, DIA, DARPA Security Agent, etc, etc....

Exactly! When I saw the post's title, I was hoping it was G. Gordon. He would have put one shot in the guys chest, and two in his forehead! We haven't had his radio show here in the Chicago area for 7 or 8 years. His syndicating company doesn't allow streaming media. I really miss him.

Police recovered a handgun from the scene and would not say what agency the Fed, who also went to Bellevue to be treated for minor injuries, worked for. So is this Fed going to get charged with illegally possessing a handgun in New York?

My niece foiled a "would-be" rapist with her Charter Arms Stainless 38 Snubby and, according to a witness at the trial, "the maddest glare I've ever seen in my life. That little gal was gonna shoot that jackass and he knew it."
My grandfather started a tradition where his kids and grandkids were given handguns and licensed lessons on their seventeenth birthdays . . . a tradition we've continued. My niece, obviously, learned well.
She's my dependent now and, although she hasn't been a priority in my life for very long, her and her siblings and mother have taught me the true meaning of the word love. The rapist wannabe had best be thankful the police arrived before her mad-as-hell uncle did.
The asshole had two prior charges for "sexual assault" against him dropped . . . the victims refused to testify. My niece didn't refuse. The DA said he'd never had a better witness FOR ANY TRIAL. The asshole got twenty-five years.
SHAMELESS BRAGGING? Damn right! It's not very often a cynical old fart like me gets to meet a REAL heroine.
Moral of this story? If your family isn't protected, especially the females . . . trust me . . . the "What if" games you'll play after something happens will kill you. Hell, I'm still playing them and my gal knew what to do, knew how to do it, and then did it but the horrors of what might've happened still wake me up some nights. "What if my blue-eyed, beautiful, intelligent, funny, and out-going baby hadn't been armed? What could've happened?"
Yeah, yeah, I know. She's not really a "baby" based on her years and FemiNazis don't like the term, but that's tough. She'll always be my baby. And I'm damn proud of her.
Enough bad things can still happen to those who ARE prepared . . . why would anyone allow a loved one to face life unprepared, untrained, and most importantly UNARMED?
