Until last month, President Bush hadn't been to a NASCAR race since he was governor of Texas and running for president.

And, John Kerry has? How long did Kerry have a Harley, before appearing on Jay Leno.

Perhaps the pres feels more comfortable around "regular" people. I know *I* certainly do...

"On Monday, he goes to a rodeo and livestock exhibition in Houston — again, for the first time since he was governor."

Since he was governor just before he became President, I am assuming that they mean this is the first rodeo and livestock exhibition that he has been to since being elected President. I was stationed in the DC area and do not remember any livestock exhibitions or rodeos. And yes, I attended them when I lived in Texas, Oklahoma and now in Spokane. But I did not attend them for the five years I was stationed in the DC area. So what?
