Islam will be the official religion of the State and will be considered a source of legislation. The Law will respect the Islamic identity of the majority of the Iraqi people and guarantee the freedom of religious belief and practice.

And despite all the hoopla around these parts over a GREAT victory, this statement alone will mean trouble. Islam the official state religion... and guarantees of the freedom of religion for others do NOT correspond in any way. Islam will never allow true freedom. Never.

Whatever the fine print or details, the larger picture is astonishing, epochal, cataclysmic.

Bush and our warriors did a quick, bold decapitation of the most tyrannical regime on earth, and has a constitution for the freed people in one year.

Had Gore been president, Iraqi women would still be raped on their bridal altars by Uday, al Qaeda would still train its hijackers at Salman Pak, and the whole torture chamber-execution-mass burial apparatus would still be roaring unchecked.

Yet Kerry's rhetorical flatulence is met by a fawning press as incense and brilliance.

The Old Media is as dead as the Ba'athist Party.

Bump!

We'll look back on this year as a great year for freedom and human rights around the world, Phil.

The Iraqi people (and the enemies of freedom) now know Iraqis are capable of governing themselves, without a cruel tyrant calling the shots, able to put aside their many differences and unite for a common cause on this day...and if they can do it today, they can do it tomorrow.

It is a very good day for the good guys.

No right to keep and bear arms for Iraq:

Article 17.

It shall not be permitted to possess, bear, buy, or sell arms except on licensure issued in accordance with the law.

So what. They have different values and I'm sure those gun licenses will be given out easily enough.

It's tradition to shoot guns in the air at celebrations. I doubt they'll stop that unless they swtich to BB or pop guns! lol
