This is a major and dramatic shift from the 2000 presidential campaign, when Arab-Americans in Michigan, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania strongly favoured Bush over his Democratic rival Al Gore.

The Bush Campaign spent a ton of time and attention on Arabs in Michigan. Bush made two personal visits--unprecedented for an ethnic group. And it meant nothing. He lost the state. He lost PA. He barely won Florida. So Arab votes made absolutely no difference because there are so few of them, despite the absurd exaggerations of their numbers.
