This is a major and dramatic shift from the 2000 presidential campaign, when Arab-Americans in Michigan, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania strongly favoured Bush over his Democratic rival Al Gore.

The Bush Campaign spent a ton of time and attention on Arabs in Michigan. Bush made two personal visits--unprecedented for an ethnic group. And it meant nothing. He lost the state. He lost PA.
