AP source: Queens workers take suspicious trash to police
By DONNA DE LA CRUZ Associated Press Writer
March 17, 2004, 5:39 PM EST
NEW YORK -- A box containing material that warned about terrorist activities and books on electronic circuitry and aircraft was found by sanitation workers collecting garbage on a Queens street on Wednesday and was taken to a police precinct, a high-level police source told The Associated Press.
As a precaution, police scanned the workers' garbage truck for radioactivity and got a reading high enough to prompt them to evacuate the 114th Precinct, but the box and the truck's contents were later deemed not hazardous, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

In fact, I don't know a single person who voted for Hilary. I'm still puzzled at her win. I guess when you add up all the minorities and the Jewish vote, it tipped the scale in her favor.
But I'm still wondering.

I voted for Lazio. There are more Freepers that voted for Lazio too. Too bad he ran such a shoddy campaign. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Guiliani runs against her this time around.

I campaigned for Lazio in the upper west side (hope of the condo commies). I did not vote for Hillary.
Heck, the day of the election, I attacked Hillary and Gore as part of a student pannel on the Today Show.

Astoria is still a fairly nice neighborhood, increasingly popular with professionals priced out of Manhattan due to the great commute. The bulk of the population is very mixed with Greeks, Egyptians, Indians, Albanians, Colombians, Brazillians, etc.

Hillary did very well with blue collar Catholics (read: Polish American ex-Steelworkers in Buffalo) upstate and did well among white Catholic women downstate as well. Don't get me started on the idiots who voted for Loozio because he had a vowel at the end of his name, yet also voted for Gore.

Thanx for the ping Race. I know the nabe well. Working class and a real smorgasbord of peoples. Greeks, Italians, Cypriots, Latinos and many Arabs and Pakis. There's a significant Egyptian community about a mile from the site of the discovery. They were in the news recently since Bloomberg is closing down their water pipe smokehouses in his nicotine Nazi frenzy. Got a couple of friends on the NYPD in the 114 so I'll try to see what's up.
