ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (AP) - An 80-year-old motorist crashed into the front of a beauty salon Thursday, injuring nine people. The driver and her 81-year-old husband were not hurt.

According to police, Loretta Caposino made a wide turn, driving in front of oncoming traffic - and then veered to avoid hitting a car, striking the curb and crashing through the front of Simone's Salon, said police spokesman Sgt. Kenny Hayes.

"The car never stopped. It just kept coming and coming," said salon owner Simone Weiss.

Five people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries; four were treated at the scene, Hayes said. Neither Caposino nor her husband, Michael, who was a passenger in the car, were injured.

Loretta Caposino was ticketed for careless driving.

Let me guess, the accelerator stuck. Strange how accelerators never stick for 20 year olds tho.

How many years will it take for Florida to run out of grave yard space?

I'll bet anything she was driving a *huge* boat of a car -- an Oldsmobile, Cadillac or Buick.

Punish bad driving. Period. Too old, too drunk, too stoned, too busy w/ the kids, too occupied with the cell phone, too tired - whatever.

The results of automobile accidents are pretty much all the same, why aren't the punishments?

Who gets more punishment - the guy coming home from the sports bar that blows a .10 at a "sobriety checkpoint", or this woman?

Living in Florida is an adventure everyday. I have never been so nervous driving as I am here in FL on a daily basis. The elderly drive huge cars, make wide turns, change lanes without warning, stop in the middle of traffic when trying to remember where they are, etc.
I do not have a solution, but I see these stories almost daily.

They vote, too.
They usually, monolithically, vote for government gimmees.
They come here to retire and/or die, but vote as if they are intent on participating as part of our community.
Ask a God to forgive them.
I am very comfortable in letting God decide how to deal with these people!

With 20 year olds it's the 'pedal to the metal' and that's why their insurance is higher.
