Wow, it's bad enough that they try to force this spontaneous generation garbage down our throats, but now they argue that the moon is responsible for life?
Sheesh...

When the moon hits your eye like a big-a pizza pie
That's amore
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's amore
Bells'll ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
And you'll sing "Vita bella"
Hearts'll play tippi-tippi-tay, tippi-tippi-tay
Like a gay tarantella
When the stars make you drool joost-a like pasta fazool
That's amore
When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet, you're in love
When you walk in a dream but you know you're not dreamin', signore
'scusa me, but you see, back in old Napoli, that's amore

Wait. Where were Creationists mentioned int he article? They're the only ones yapping about "spontaneous generation garbage" as part of their biogenesis "theory..."

I thought that they were going to say something sensible such as, if the moon hadn't been playing tag with all those asteroids/meteors/etc., the surface of Earth would look like the face of a former teenaged junkfood junkie!

God is responsible for life. Trying to figure out the method he used is a good use of the brain he gave us.

THe moon isn't responsible, GOD is responsible.... suggesting that the moon was critical to it does not negate God..... Even the Pope has declared evolution is not at odds with Creation...
Without the moon, life on earth, at least as we know it would be impossible. The earths steady 21 degree axis would not be stable... while it does "wobble" around that 21 degree access every so many thousand years, it is always a constant 21 degrees. WIthout the moons influence the axis would wobble wildly changing world climates from glaciers to deserts in rapid succession.... the oceanic convection currents would not be consistent and carry warth from the equator to the extremities... etc etc etc..
The fact is the more we learn about just how every little minute thing that has happened in history, was absolutely neccessary for life to exist as it does today, and the odds that those events happened just in the right way, at just the right time, andunder just the right circumstances... the less the concept of "random coincidence" seems plausible.
Had the meteroid that struck earth throwing it assunder an thusly creating the moon hit the planet and just a few degrees different, no moon would have formed, and thus no steady axis... etc etc etc...
Do not think that science debunks God. Science explores HOW the universe operates, and answering HOW does not negate or disprove God. How only explains the order in which God created things... it doesn't even begin to pretend to answer WHY.

I agree that the moon thing is reaching, but natural selection makes more sense than "we were created by an invisible person". The one comes with proof, the other a book written by folks a very long time ago. Nonetheless, I'm inclined to believe there is a metaphysical origin to the universe - I'd like to. Whatever created the universe, for whatever reason, created a universe in which natural selection gave rise to the origin of the species'. It just makes sense.
