Note the insertion of the mission price tag in the second paragraph of this AP story.

This is actually an attempt by the AP to conceal their liberal bias. What they intended to say was "Scientists working on NASA's $820 million twin rover mission..."

They always like to get the price tag at the top of the story so people will question the value of the mission, not the results.

Both rovers should more than double their expected lifetimes, officials have said.

I knew they shouldn't have paid for that extended warranty.

That money could be far better spent by government right here on Earth.

Think of how many homeless we could house, how many meals we could feed to the hungry for that amount. Think of how many clean needles we could distribute to crack whores living under bridges. Think of how many symbols of Christianity we could deface with urine and dung for $820 million.

Sorry. So true. It would contribute so much more to our society if we had used the money (over three dollars for each and every American!) to increase the dependency of those who rely upon government largess, as opposed to wasting in just to learn more abut a world that may some day be the home of a second branch of the human race. :0)

Or...think about how many empty shelters we could staff, think about how many meals we could put on the burner, then throw away because no one came to scarf them down....

think about all the cash we could set aside in staff wages and feel good smoke and mirrors...or we could fly to Mars and beyond sort of like we once built a rail road from coast to coast.

Oops, wasteful and probably racist, sorry I mentioned it.

You left out think of how much better off we'd be if the government simply left the money in the hands of those who actually earned it.
