United Democrats Show Stance behind Kerry to Rout Bush from Office

The Democratic Party staged a giant lovefest yesterday to display how united they are behind John Kerry in the push to oust President Bush.

Kerry stood with former Democratic Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, former Vice President Al Gore and all his major primary rivals in a significant show of force.

"Never has the Democratic Party been more united than it is today," Kerry said at a huge fund-raising dinner in Washington that was to put $11 million in Democratic coffers.

For $1,000 a plate, donors ate barbecue family-style and gawked at Carter, Clinton and Gore. Hardly the best of friends, the three have not been together since the 9/11 memorial in 2001.

But the desire of Democrats to send Bush back to Texas is almost palpable, transcending past squabbles.

"I want to start by saying something nice about President Bush," Kerry told the crowd. "Of all the Presidents we've had with the last name of Bush, his economic plan ranks in the top two."

While Clinton's speech overshadowed everyone, it was Carter who had the sound bite of the night. Referring to his long friendship with consumer activist and current candidate Ralph Nader, Carter said, "When I was President, he gave me a lot of advice. Tonight, I want to return the favor. ... Go back to examining the rear ends of automobiles and don't risk costing the Democrats the White House as you did four years ago."

Earlier in the day, at a sun-splashed rally at George Washington University, Kerry and one-time Democratic front-runner Howard Dean buried the hatchet.

"The real issue is this: Who would you rather have in charge of the defense of the United States of America: a group of people who never served a day overseas in their life, or a guy who served this country honorably and has three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star on the battlefields of Vietnam?"

Dean is the biggest loser yet. Clinton and Gephardt screw him good and he still bends over for more. Then they rub the blacks guys nappy head and praise him of his "jocularity" and one-liners. Next they'll be saying that sharpton has rhythm.

They nominate an undertaker look-a-like for prez and pretend they're unified. LOL

I hope Al Gore's endorsement does as much for Kerry as his endorsement did for Dean. Same goes for Clinton's backing of Wesley Clark. Howard Dean and Jimmy Carter endorsements; who cares? They're both losers. Jimmy was the worst president of the 20th Century and Dean is a nut. So, are we supposed to be trippin' over these "big guns" getting behind John Francois Kerry? Me thinks not.

Too bad they didn't have a dunk tank there. They could have raised a lot of extra money letting the Xs take turns at each other.

I saw parts of this event televised on CSPAN2.

My first impression is that the entire audience was stoned.

No passion except when the big jerk spoke.

When the big gigolo finally showed, many people got up and headed for the exits.

Heck....did you hear Gore saying, "I didn't endorse John Kerry...Clinton didn't endorse John Kerry...Jimmy Carter didn't endorse John Kerry. He earned it." Now, I'm sure Al's point was that Kerry worked hard, but if I was a democrat...or even a moderate, I'd kinda wonder why no one endorsed John Kerry. If I was Ketchup Boy, I would've slapped Gore silly.

I will say something nice about Kerry. Of all the presidential candidates to ever make a separate peace with an enemy during a shooting war and discuss the assassination of US Senators in a meeting with fellow radicals, Kerry has the absolute best economic plan.

John F. Seinfeld put people to sleep. Bill Clinton stole the show. Every one loved Howard Dean - and this is a party that isn't exactly brimming with vigor and passion. No one seemed excited about the man they nominated. You can see the Democrats' mental cog wheels turning, thinking, "Gee, we wish we had a candidate that brought the house down." Turns out Seinfeld wasn't their man.

Kerry wasn't the Democrats' first choice. They really should have nominated Howard Dean who is the guy they wanted all along except he would identified their problem all too clearly. So they had to make do with someone who will push a product no one wants with a great deal of reluctance. And that's where the Democrats have ended up. They don't have a great candidate, they don't have a theme song, and every one in the paety elite despises the heck out of each other! It was hardly the glowing tribute the Democrats' Seinfeld Candidate needed to have in order to gallop out of the starting gate.

Right! We all know Kerry was ready to drop out before Dean imploded..and that the Dems "settled" on him as a last resort.

Leave it up to Gore to remind everybody of the fact nobody wanted Kerry until they had no other choice. Gore is such a political klutz. He didn't even realize he was insulting Kerry.
