Cops: Audrey's Kidnap Story a Hoax

Police announced Friday they are no longer seeking a suspect in the case of a missing 20-year-old college student because they don't believe it ever happened.

After conducting several interviews with Audrey Seiler (search) police said they found inconsistencies in her story and evidence that she staged the abduction herself.

I read earlier that volunteers had driven five hours to the place where they were searching for her. With the cost of gas what it is she should personally reimburse every one of those volunteers out of her own pocket and write them a letter of apology - handwritten, not typed, not an e-mail.

Seiler told police the man who abducted her used a knife, duct tape, rope, cold medicine and other items against her....

What would be the use of cold medicine? To make her drowsy? That is pretty peculiar, isn't it? I think it is shameful what she put everyone through... and I think of the crime victims who maybe didn't get access to certain resources during this same period because those resources (including personnel) were committed to searching for this dope.
