STRANGE CELL-FELLOW: Ramzi Yousef, mastermind of the '93 WTC bombing, in 1996, when he began spilling to a jail "friend."

April 11, 2004 -- The 9/11 commission has been given an FBI report detailing mobster-turned-spy Gregory Scarpa Jr.'s 1996 prison exchanges with terrorist Ramzi Yousef. The Post's Al Guart reports how a Brooklyn hood became America's unlikely agent in the war on terror.

..With all do respect, you left out the assassination of John F. Kennedy...

Why should that be on a list of Islamo-terror acts?

"In December 1996, Yousef got word from bin Laden himself on the need for five or six passports for plane hijackings set for the following April, a lengthy FBI report showed."

Where's the hearings on this? Could this be the hijacking info included in the PDB. According to Senator Graham, the hijacking information in the PDB was at least 3 years old.

These are both interesting pieces. Unfortunately, the Commission limited the scope of their investigation from the Cole attack to 9/11 only, so I doubt they would even entertain this evidence. It's a shame that the FBI didn't bother to have Scarpa find out if there was any relationship between bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. I guess it was asking too much for the FBI to think about that possibility, especially in light of the fact that we'd already gone to war against Hussein, that he was known to possess WMD's and use them, and that he was repeatedly firing at our planes. I guess it was also too much to ask the FBI to consider the possibility that perhaps Hussein would supply some of those WMD's to bin Laden. Alot of missed opportunities if you ask me. The FBI was so intent on pinning the bombing plot on Yusef, they didn't bother to look outside their little circle. Sad.

"These people need to be isolated incommunicato for the duration. They are dangerous even behind bars."

How right you are. Chances are Sheik Rahman, Yusef and the rest all knew about 9/11 before it happened. Having worked for 23 years in the NY State prison system, I can say that with reasonable certainty.

"...Another conspiracy theory? From another commission? The Warren Report; the 9-11 Report? The partisans say, Answer the questions, and question the answers..."

And I can't wait for the "Rush to Judgment" books to start being published over the shoddy job done by the 9/11 Commission. You know they're coming.

Ramsey Clarke recommended Lynne Stewart as lawyer to Sheik Rahman. She is presently under indictment for helping Rahman communicate with his terrorist friends in Egypt. According to an article I just read, Clarke had initially recommended Kuby and Kunstler, but they both recused themselves. Stewart's lawyer is Michael Tigar, another commie.

This link takes you to a fairly long article by Laurie Mylroie from "The National Interest", Winter, 1995/96. Entitled "THE WORLD TRADE CENTER BOMB: Who is Ramzi Yousef? And Why It Matters." It's long but worth the read because it deals with the connection between the '93 WTC bombing and Iraq. I apologize if it's been posted previously on FR.

The "Who is Ramzi Yousef?" essay from The National Interest, along with some other Laurie Mylroie articles, transcripts and other related materials can also be found on this recent thread.

Myrloie has been the most thorough, convincing voice on this subject for ten years. What she's been saying needs to be heard.

Thanks for the link. I've seen Mylroie on Fox News many times and have always been impressed at her knowledge and expertise. This article gave me shivers. It was prophetic in so many ways. A couple of days ago I began going through some old NY Times articles from the '93 bombing. I was taken aback by the attitude of the FBI & NYPD officials at the time. They basically concluded that the perpetrators of the WTC bombing were rinky-dink, two-bit crooks, inept and inexperienced. And even though it was known that the money the terrorists used was electronically transferred from Germany, the FBI didn't think that there was any foreign connection. They felt the terror gang was a locally organized group of incompetents, nothing more.

Four days after the bombing, the New York Times received a letter of demands from the alleged bombers. The demands mostly dealt with America's relationship with Israel, but it also claimed that "they," the terrorists, had 150 suicide warriors trained to continue attacks on military and civilian sites if the demands weren't met. The FBI's response was that they didn't believe there were 150 warriors or that any threat existed.

The arrests in the '93 attack came swiftly, and as Mylroie stated, that was enough for the FBI. They'd gotten their men afterall, and so the case was completed. The same thing happened with Oklahoma City. When McVeigh and Nichols were picked up shortly afterwards, the FBI again was satisfied that they had everything in place. We now know there has been and still is suspicion of a Middle East connection. I just don't get the FBI's mindset or how they operate. I worked in the security field for 23 years and I was taught to conduct thorough investigations, leaving no stone unturned. We were told: "The only stupid question is the one you don't ask."

The bottom line is that Clinton and his minions dropped the ball after the '93 attack. Had he authorized a "Tiger Team," it's quite possible that 9/11 may have been averted. All of the things President Bush enacted after 9/11 should have been put in place in '93 by Clinton. That's why I don't understand the 9/11 Commission's failure to include the '93 WTC bombing plot in with their hearings. They are making the same error as the intelligence community by limiting the scope of their investigation.

THE terrorist even boasted the United States would never pursue bin Laden because "the government knows that within one week of capturing bin Laden, 12 U.S. airplanes would be blown up," the same report stated

Well, that bit o' blackmail could explain the Clinton administration 'hands off' policy regarding bin Laden.
