What we don't know is how much pressure is going on behind the scenes - are they putting the screws to not only Kerry, but other Catholic Democratic leaders such as Gephardt? And it's going to take a serious effort on the part of the Church to reverse many decades of power brokering with the politicos.

I see Kerry as a very odious creature - one who has no standards, no morals, no ideas, no beliefs, no character and no core. Just an empty shell surrounding ambition.

Being Catholic might have gotten me to take a second look. But the first look showed everything that I needed to know - and everything since has proof.

I once cut out a NYT clip of Cuomo saying as long as he was governor there would be no death penalty in NY because of his deeply held personal beliefs. The hypocrisy of these "personally opposed" Catholics is stunning. Not surprising, just stunning.
