"there are now 1,265 US plants and animals listed under the endangered species act, which can restrict land and water use."

Yet we hear not a mention of a species that has been depleted by forty million over the past thirty years. Seems the species that determins which species are to be listed as endangered, is so far removed from the human species, that we don't matter to them.
