And Buchanan, using his brilliant mind to side with the left on this issue, is one reason why we are far from perfect.

You get a hi-five from me simply for recognizing this undoubted truth. He does it over and over.

Buchanan is brilliant, but if ever a person were called a 'cocktail conservative', it's Buchanan.

I wouldn't say he's a conservative with how I understand conservatism. He is a populist, through and through. Populism and conservatism are not the same.
