What's most offensive about Leno's show are the "jokes" about Cheney's heart condition -- they never get any laughs, but he just keeps trying.

Well, as much as I love to bash media types (they deserve it), Leno has told some great Kerry jokes about his flip-flopping. He said that if elected Kerry would be the first President capable of giving both the State of the Union Address and its rebuttal. LOL! There have been many. Leno is basically liberal I think but he isn't all that political. He just likes telling jokes about everyone.

I do not watch his show since he kissed up to Clinton

I don't watch Leno because he's not funny and he was one of the worst doing the "ugly" Chelsea jokes. Then Clinton comes on his show and sucks up to Leno instead of punching his lights out as a normal father would do.

VisualizeSmallerGovernment, spot on. Actually somebody who recognizes this for what it is.

Leno needs to be funny no matter who is in the White House. He made his grandkids rich off of Clinton. The Daily Show is a different matter in that they need to be funny but their writers are getting more political as we get closer to the election. They are still generally funny but its just getting more and more lopsided. Libs LOVE the daily show since they think this is the only place where the REAL news gets heard. Sad, but true. Check their chat rooms.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. I know he pokes fun at both sides I know that being President opens you up to a little more. And I don't find the "dumb Bush" jokes to be any more harmful than the "boring Kerry" jokes. I actually think a lot of the Bush jokes are funny. But to suggest, even in jest, that the President might have ordered a bombing strike on a gay wedding was beoind the pale. I understand that he was tying two recent news stories (gay marriage and the Iraqi "wedding" that was bombed) together, but to me, it was too far. But I'm over it now. :)

Lighten up. Leno makes fun of everyone. Life must be very hard for you, if stuff like this bothers you.

Like Letterman is much better. Be honest! Letterman is the most boring comedian on the air. Leno, by far is head and shoulders better than Letterman. He has a very creative show that is second to non on TV.

I record him every night, and watch him the next night. This way, I am in control. He brings in a faggot kid (Ross the intern), I fast forward, commercials, I fast forward, the ugly piece of sh*t Dennis Rodman as a guest, fast forward, worthless head banging music, fast forward...

On balance Leno makes fun of Kerry, and Bush. But of course, he needs to appeal to the liberal Hollywood type; so he is typically harsher on Bush, and siding with the fags, and so on.

True. One of the first things comedians do when a new president gets elected, is to try to learn their voice, if they haven't done it already.

No way, man. My life has been pretty much a dream. I have more than I ever expected or deserved. Leno only bothered me enough to make me post on an internet bulletin board. I'm not marching in the street. You got a point though. He makes fun of everyone. He's probably working on a joke right now about Kerry and his band of brothers cutting the ears off and raping Republicans.

Gay weddings are dirty bombs, being dropped upon society by the liberal's dirty air Force. Sounds like Leno is a flight commander.

Here are the Jay Leno jokes from last night that appear on newsmax.com (they don't chronicle every joke).

According to several sources over the weekend U.S. forces bombed a wedding party in Iraq. Apparently Bush thought it was a gay wedding.

The show is finally somewhat back to normal. Yesterday we had First Lady Lara Bush on the show. We had all the Secret Service guys here on the set. They’re like 6’2”, wear those suits, they just stand there and don’t smile. It was like a room full of John Kerrys.

Yesterday John Kerry met with Ralph Nader. When those two met it created what is called a charisma black hole.

Have you ever looked at Ralph Nader? Doesn’t he look like a John Kerry that has been in the dryer for a few days?

For the first time ever a lost deer made it all the way across the Golden Gate Bridge. Experts say the deer was either very hungry or extremely gay.

Al Gore has endorsed the global warming movie "The Day After Tomorrow”. Let’s hope that works out better than his Howard Dean endorsement.

****

There was another Bush joke, but I can't remember what it was either.

On paper, there's more Kerry jokes than Bush jokes. But when I watched it, I was struck by the fact that the Bush jokes were getting ZERO laughs, and each time they bombed, Leno copped a "You Can't HANDLE The Truth" type attitude.

Leno's jokes have always worked on stereotypes and archetypes. At any given time, he has a "fat guy" archetype (Raymond Burr, Roger Ebert, Rush Limbaugh). He has a "Drug Addict" archetype (Marion Barry, Whitney Houston, Rush Limbaugh), etc. Then he can tell a 50 year old joke "A lesbian walks into a bar..." and make it "topical" by plugging in the Archetype "speaking of (Rosie O' Donnell / Janet Reno / Michael Jackson)..."

If Leno is telling a joke about a racist, sexist, or some other intolerant type, his first instinct is to plug in the name of a prominent Republican. (Immediately after 9/11 that briefly changed to The Taliban). What changes over the years isn't whether Leno tried to paint Republicans as racists (which he always does), but whether the audience thinks that it's funny (which they don't always do).

I think one of the reasons his anti-war jokes are falling flat is that he was for the war in Afghanistan. His wife has been a HUGE anti-Taliban activist in Hollywood because of the way they treat women. She would have carpet bombed Afghanistan years ago just to change the dress code. So his anti-Iraq war jokes fall flat. It's like "bomb those people over there. Shame on you for bombing these people over here."

I've always thought Leno was an equal opportunity basher but I stopped watching because it's become just a free promo for the latest Hollywood personality or flick. Most of these "stars" can't string an intelligent sentence together anyway and none seem to have any biographical material that's the least bit interesting.
If Leno seems to go after Bush more just take comfort in the fact that most viewers are teenagers or welfare cases who won't vote anyway.

I stopped watching Leno 6 months ago, his humor isnt funny, he has to beg his audience to laugh. I switched over to Letterman

I always say .....there are two types of people in the US. Not Repubs and Dems .....not men and women ...no! The answer is people who like Leno, and people who like Letterman. And never shall the twain meet! As in, if you like Letterman you cannot comprehend Leno. And if you like Leno you cannot stand letterman.

I personally opt for Leno. As for the aversion factor: anytime I flip over to letterman for a few seconds (eg:when Leno is on commercial break), I always gag and the overt stupidity of Letterman's 10 questions/10 facts/10 statements (or whatever he calls them). Yet I have a very close pal who loves that segment ....she goes gaga over it!

Go figure!

However, as pertains to this thread, Leno attacks everyone. Dem and Rep ...and independent. It all matters on what ammo he has, and once he has it he goes after them. Infact there have been threads on FR where some say he is a Republican, others say he is a Dem. Personally I couldn't care less what his affiliation is ....as long as he doesn't try to sell it on TV. And he doesn't. What happens is some Repub sees a statement against Bush and says Leno must be a Democrat. And then a Dem-dim sees a segment attacking Kerry and says leno must be conservative.

I never cared for Leno. I used to watch Letterman, but "since he kissed up to Clinton" on 9-11-2002, I rarely watch his show.

And try to avoid SeeBS in general.

Leno wouldn't have a monologue if all the pornographic
allusions were removed.

He is no friend of GWB. Many of us think that is a good thing.

Leno has always made really nasty, personal jokes against President Bush. It started in 2000, with the stupid jokes, cocaine jokes, Bush is heartless money grubber jokes. They always tend to be really nasty in regards to Republicans. And lies for the most part. I stopped watching Leno a long time ago. Letterman is a real POS too-with his 'Bush is a boob' comments and other demeaning kind of comments he makes. Letterman isn't very humorous either. His jokes are really lame.
