May 22, 2004 -- President Bush plans to outline "a clear strategy" for Iraq's future in a prime-time speech Monday night, the White House said - at a time when polls show a growing number of Americans have the jitters about where his policy is headed. Bush wants to talk about "a clear strategy on how we need to move forward" as America approaches the "pivotal phase" of transferring sovereignty to Iraqis on June 30, said White House spokesman Trent Duffy.

Do you suppose it will be carried by all the MSM?
Nope. We'd better consider the use of a permanent mind-altering substance to blanket Axis of evil countries, turning them into peaceful farmers or whatever. If we're not allowed to humiliate, kill them, or even tickle their feet, the PC alternative is our surrender. Doubtless Kerry's already writing up that proposal.
Bush must use this speech to give concrete specifics about the transfer of power. As I stated in a thread yesterday, if he comes out with more rhetoric about democracy and freedom, his poll numbers will suffer. Americans need reassurance that he is in complete control of the situation.
I have advocated he lay out the plan, well more accurately, I have urged him to explain the positives and lambast the democrats for being against all of them. One thing should be said here though.
Inceasantly the democrats demand to know who exactly is going to take over in Iraq. Then one of the most prominent candidates for Iraqi leadership was killed last week by a terrorist's blast. Strangely, the democrats who had been demanding to know the names of the new government's members didn't appologize for their prior demands to know, and miracle of miracles, the press didn't mention it. Gosh, are they sweet to democrats.
I suspect Bush knows what he and his crew are up to. I've got more patience than a five year old brat, so I'm going to wait and see when the time comes. The democrats time is up in early November, so we can understand them being a bit befuddled as time runs out.
About time.
This is the same mentality that when we have 2 consecutive days over 90 degrees it is a sign of global warming!
You cannot change this thinking. You can only soundly defeat it and throw it on the ash-heap of history as thinking similar to "the world is flat".
How many times does he have to lay out the strategy for the cretins on the left to get it?
Hmmm, looks like the mission is nation bulding, now then Clinton tried this he got blasted at FR, think Bush will get blasted too?
That all depends on what your definition of the word "acceptance" is.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Gas prices already falling rapidly. Down to $1.79 in Dayton last weekend, and the price dropped another $1 per barrel here today. This is not going to be an issue. Another false hope for the "Effing" Kerry people.
He should address the anxiety that people have-- acknowledge it-- and then talk them into being less anxious. Show that he's in touch with that anxiety of many voters. The poll numbers for whether Iraq was worth the sacrifice of blood and treasure aren't good. If he gets up there and talks about how we will not tire, falter, or fail and how Iraq will be a shining city on a hill, then this speech is a waste of everyone's time-- everyone's heard it all before.
He should use the dialogue approach from the stem cell speech. To my recollection, not a single of his speeches of his term were as persuasive as that one. His other speeches have been rah-rah speeches that people tune out after a while. I wonder who wrote that stem cell speech?
"The best $2 per gallon story I heard yesterday was when a guy called the guest host on Glen Beck. He was convinced the oil companies had raised the gas prices and were funneling all the xtra profits to the Bush campaign for TV spots. He said gas prices were up, Bush commercials were up - obvious connection."
I actually had a SHORT conversation with a guy who told me that the gas crisis of the '70's was under Nixon. When I said, "You mean Carter" , he argues that he was a truck driver then so he knew. Damn....guess I wasn't even alive then. Bottom line....You CAN'T reason with dems.
