HI TNT--

Great pictures!

Fashion comment: Usually I think the Pres. really looks sharp, but I definitely do NOT like it when he wears different colored suit jacket and pants. He seems to do this on Sundays. Think that's the only day Laura lets him pick out what he wears?

thanks for your rant. I could see that Kerry would drive your husband crazy, but I wish he could see how much we love Dubya, how proud we are of him, his family, and his administration for their humility, sincerity and most of all, they way they brought some decorum back to the White House.

Ohio, Eric, mystery, Mike, and every serviceman and woman who reads this--

THANK YOU from my family and I, for your service. Memorial Day means more to me than ever this year, since I've gotten to know all of you. We cannot say "thanks" enough for all you have done so we can enjoy the lives we do. You and your families are in our prayers every day.

Thank you, and God bless you all.

Sincerely,
homemom

RE: standing ovation for Rummy--I don't know if he started it, but the President proudly stood up for Rummy during the applause.

I have always mused why the daily life of this president was apparently greeted with such enthusiasm on a conservative forum. I rationalized that many who have joined the forum since the 2000 election have mistakenly identified FreeRepublic as a Republican forum.

I am completely mystified why this odyssey would be posted on the California topic. From California's perspective Bush is one of the contributing factors to the state's current financial and social crisis.

Putting aside all of Bush's domestic meanderings it matters not to Californians whether he's doing a good job of countering the threat of radical Islam at the front door because he is playing an active role in surrendering the sovereignty of the country at it's back door.

Members of this forum had a chance to work to replace Bush with a conservative candidate in the spring primaries but chose not to do so. They instead, chose to hold their noses for fear of a loss to the "dark side" in November. As a conservative, I certainly wished they had decided to take the risk.

That same failed logic placed a popular, liberal businessman in the Governor's office in California simply because he had an (R) after his name. Certainly the Republican Party was victorious but the people of California are already paying the price through long term indebtedness and rising taxation.

*** it appears to me that beautiful Laura has lost more weight or been doing some tummy-shrinking exercises. Good on her. She looks fabulous***

I thought the same thing, GEM. Wish I knew her secret!

Thanks for your viewpoint. I have not had a family memeber serve in any war, but through the people I've gotten to know on this thread I've gained new appreciation for the sacrifices of servicemen and women. I've decided that any time I see a serviceperson I will thank him or her for his service--it makes me so sad to hear aobut servicepeople who are harassed because they are in uniform. They are all appreciated by many, many people.

I'm glad your husband is not here to see Kerry's actions, but I wish he could see how our President, Rummy, and his administration admire and respect our servicemen and women.

If you can stand CNN and Paula Zahn, she will be interviewing George HW Bush tonight at 8PM eastern. The blurb says, " Exclusive: Former President George H.W. Bush tells how President Bush is handling criticism and the conflict in Iraq, and reveals the most difficult decision a president has to make. Tune in at 8 p.m. ET. "

I guess you have to blame me. Since it is Memorial Day, I clicked on every state in the Union, as I felt it was fair game to flag every state to this thread.

Your opinions have been registered in your post but frankly, few here agree with it and we have numerous Californians who participate here.

If I shouldn't have clicked on all of the states, take it up with the Admin Mod. I'm sure they'd do something for you if you really feel that CA shouldn't be among the choices.

You haven't read any of Jim Robinson's latest posts on the necessity of re-electing Pres. Bush, I take it. While this may be a conservative board, the owner of this website has made his positions quite clear.

Let me reiterate for all Americans in the Military, from whatever state, protectorate or allied Country - thank you for your service on this Memorial Day.

Now if you really feel the need for an argument, please go find another thread. I'm sure they'll be happy to oblige you. There are enough other threads where you can voice your dissatisfaction with Pres. Bush but it isn't what this thread is about. Same for your opinions about CA's new Governor. If you think he's doing a poor job, I'm sure you would have really loved the immediate tax increases that a (D) would have immediately pushed through. California's problems don't have a quick fix unless one believes in driving it's economy into the dumpster by taxation on personal and corporate entities to make up for the years of shortfall and mismanagement. And please don't mistake these comments as an invitation to continue the discussion on this thread. If what I've said gives you heartburn, either FReepmail me or ping me to another thread. I've said more on this thread than I probably should have, in defending a Republican President and a Republican Governor in the state of California.

Have a good day and Goodbye.

I now return everyone to the Memorial Day festivities and discussion of same.

Hey DrDeb! Are you a delegate to the national convention? Goodnesswins and I were discussing whom among the Dose might be a delegate. I am. Goodnesswins isn't though.

ANYONE OUT THERE A DELEGATE? ANYONE GOING TO NYC TO SEE W?

I'm pretty excited about it. It's horrible timing but I decided I only have one more chance to go to a convention and nominate GEORGE W BUSH so I had better do it.

Another reason for me to be a raving nutcase today:

Breaking: John Kerry Honored by Vietnamese Communists

John Kerry's photograph is featured in the War Protestors Hall of the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City -- a clear indication of the value the Vietnamese communists place on Kerry's support of their efforts during the Vietnam War.

Unfortunately, I'm NOT a delegate; however, I know you will represent us well!!

[I may still attend the convention -- my sister is exploring various options as we speak! Of course, 'come hell or high water' I WILL attend the inauguration ceremonies!!!!]

Just got off the phone with my sister in Canada--she has dual citizenship in the United States and Canada--she moved there after she married a very nice Canadian man. She wants to vote absentee in November, but can't find out how to. Can anyone ping me to a website with the info? She's emailed several GWB websites--I don't know which ones--but they haven't replied.

The last state she lived in was Michigan; I can't remember if it was a red or blue state in the last election, but we know every vote counts.

THANKS for any help--I'll try to do some research too but I'm sure someone probably has the info "right there"--
