Also on Drudge right now is a link to an article about same-sex marriage in France, which would lead me to believe that ever-enlightened Europe is just as "soulless" as the United States. Has the pope denounced all the immorality that goes on in Europe as well? Highly doubtful.
He has repeatedly done so, and is pushing for formal recognition of the contributions of Chrisitianity to Europe in the EU constitution. France and Belgium are fighting against him on that, though.
Is the US now following Europe's moral example? I thought we were the greatest Christian nation on earth...
I truly believe that the Pope means the United States and our constitution are the last hope for this Satan laden world. He knows Europe is too far gone.
Did he also denounce homosexual priests who "prey" on young boys?
You obviously have not been following the news from Europe. The pope has blasted the EEC for eliminating all references to its christian roots, form their charter.
Only a Europe that recognises its own Christian roots will be worthy of its great third millennium challenge: peace, dialogue between cultures and religions, and safeguarding creation.
Notwithstanding spiritual crises [Europes] identity would be incomprehensible without Christianity."
Europe, as you and I well know, has lost its moral compass. The pronouncements in the pope's address today, are directed at the US bishops, who are on their "ad limina" visit to the Vatican, that takes place once every 5 years. Though directed at one group, they are actually intended for ALL US bishops.
Wow...your bias is showing....
There are a half a dozen articles regarding the Pops' comdemnation of the EU's constitution and the souless and godless society they've become.....
But I guess you just missed that....
NeverGore
I am pretty sure he has, but is anyone in europe listening??
If the Pope is meeting with the president of the United States, why would he talk about Europe?
Hopefully, he already has addressed European countries and leaders.
"Every bishop must visit the Vatican every five years for periodic consultations. This year is the turn of bishops from the United States."
Another reason why it's our turn for constructive criticism.
FWIW, same-sex marriage is illegal in France. I think it was Chirac who threatened to prosecute the mayor who performed the same-sex marriage.
Of course.
