The fact that we weren't "broadly feared" while these idiots were busy being entertained by foreign powers is exactly what lead to 9/11.

"To enhance credibility with Islamic peoples we must pursue courageous, energetic and balanced efforts to establish peace between Israelis and Palestinians," they said. The major challenges of the 21st century, the letter went on, include weapons proliferation, unequal distribution of wealth (!!!), terrorism, environmental degradation, population growth in the developing world, HIV/AIDS and ethnic and religious confrontations.
This is the ideology of every Marxist academic in every left-wing university in America. These guys belong with Michael Moore, Peter Singer, Noam Chomsky and the rest of the "We Hate America" degenerates of the Foaming-At-The-Mouth variety.
There is no proof that a military or diplomatic career automatically means that you love freedom. For many at the highest level it is just a prestigious job with nice perks.

In an unprecedented broadside, more than two-dozen top retired U.S. career diplomats and military commanders, many of whom reached their top positions under former President George H.W. Bush, have called for George W. Bush to be defeated in his re-election bid in November.
In a very precedented broadside,
Jim Lobe continued his mindless propaganda under the guise of journalism. And, as predicted by his fellow traveler, Pat Buchanan, the left and right extremist fringe have become natural allies.
Hmm... funny... I could have sworn that George H.W. Bush is also despised by Jim Lobe, Pat Buchanan, and the rest of the skinheads-in-name-only. And for that matter, I could have sworn that GHW Bush wound up rejected (in favor of the sociopath, Bill Clinton) because he kissed the ass of the UN and left Saddam in power and reneged on "read my lips".

60 years ago the United States had kicked significant ass in the world and brought the second World War to an end. Yes, I know that we were allied with GB, the Soviets and the French. The French we also fought against.
At the end of said conflict, the world was either deathly afraid of us, (not a bad situation); too badly beaten to have much of an opinion, (also not a bad situation and profitable for the beaten); or extremely pleased to call us friend, (a very good situation). This applied to all but the Communist countries. It has taken a bit more time for reality to sink in for these peoples.
Considering the above, I ask, who the heck gives a damn about these sniveling, neutered nabobs?
