Ok, I need to ask. I see the ping! word in a lot of posts. What does it mean?

"Hey bud, check this out."

I guess I could have explained more: it comes from a network command used to test the response from another computer. It's sort of "Are you there? If you're there give me some feedback."

If you open a Command Prompt and type PING <any web address or domain name> you will get an answer from the computer - provided PING responses are enabled on it.
