So, Helen plans to be the first to protest when Kerry, Clinton, Gore and (rev) Jackson go out to appear at black churches across the country.

I find that quite interesting, as Helen and her other lefty friends have been jumping up and down for four years about George Bush's beliefs. If they want to stop bloviating about "the Religious Right," that's fine with me. But I won't hold my breath.

Evidently this little troll doesn't realize the Catholic Church is not beholden to the government of the United States and can make its own rules in regards to who gets to partake and who doesn't.

Then let's keep politics out of religious issues.
Marriage has been a religious institution since long before the Democratic party (and their consituents) decided to make it a political issue.
Nurturing children has been a religious teaching since long before the Democrats decided to make abortion-as-birth-control a political issue.
And honor - meaning, keeping your solemn vows - is an issue of moral character that is an entirely valid topic for evaluating a candidate for office. Does Kerry honor his vows to the Roman Catholic church or not? He is free to withdraw from the church - admitting that he will not keep his vows to it - and be judged on that basis. Lying about whether he abides by his vows - any vows, including those made to a faith-based organization - is a valid concern.

Such activities could run afoul of the church's tax-free status that bars participation in political affairs. She has probably never heard any tax-exempt (or taxpayer funded) liberal groups that participate in political affairs.....

Bush has reportedly sought political support from the Vatican for his opposition to gay marriage, according to the National Catholic Reporter newspaper. The president appealed to Vatican officials on his trip to Rome earlier this month "to encourage American bishops to take a more active role in promoting their shared social agenda," particularly against gay marriage, the newspaper reported.Kinda like when Presidant Jimmah approached the Russian ambassador (can't remember if it was Gromyko or Dobrinyin) to help stop the election of Ronald Reagan, whom Jimmah charaterized as the greatest threat to peace the world had seen?
