This is the COMPASSIONATE GAY ACTIVIST, John Aravosis...

Something About Mary

Gay-marriage proponents target the veep's daughter

in the most audacious surprise attack yet, a new Web site targeted Mary Cheney, the openly lesbian daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney. Within an hour of its launch, DearMary.com attracted 100 emotional letters pleading with her to weigh in against a constitutional amendment. "Where is your courage, Mary?" asked one. "Your community needs you to voice your dissent."

Now that Mary, 34, is a senior campaign official, the Web site hopes to shame her back into the spotlight. Still, the effort's ultimate target isn't Mary but her dad's boss. (The Bush-Cheney campaign declined to comment.)

"I think the American people deserve to know he is willing to sell out his daughter for votes. It says something about his character," says John Aravosis, a Washington, D.C., political consultant who founded the site along with Los Angeles activist Robin Tyler. The two have a solid track record: in 2000 they helped force conservative talk-show host Dr. Laura Schlesinger off television with a similar campaign.

This week they plan an e-mail ad picturing Mary's face on a milk carton. HAVE YOU SEEN ME? it asks, noting that she's been "silent since her father endorsed anti-gay constitutional amendment making her and millions of Americans second-class citizens." Says Aravosis: "I think Mary is our last best hope to stopping this amendment."

Robin Tyler (from the article)

So we have all heard of Ellen Degeneres, Margaret Cho and Suzanne Westenhoefer, but chances are, you never would have if it weren't for LBO's first GREAT WOMAN, Robin Tyler. Long before our most famous out lesbian comics made their way into the headlines, fearless Robin Tyler had been there, done that.

Robin Tyler, born Arlene Chernick in Winnipeg was the first openly gay comic in the U.S. and is known to be one of the most outspoken lesbian activist ever in history. She almost seemed to have been born with a NO FEAR, NO CLOSETS mentality. Because of great women like Robin Tyler, who has been OUT since she knew she was gay at the tender age of 16, the way was paved for many a famous lesbian to stand up, come out, but most importantly HEARD and be SEEN!

In 1978 Tyler recorded the first openly gay comedy album "Always A Bridesmaid, Never A Groom". She has been known to be a major catalyst in many activist stands such as The 2002 Millennium March in Washington , as well as many other marches. She has produced so many Women’s Music & Comedy events, charity events that we cannot possible name them all. She even took on the evil Dr Laura with her hard driven campaign Stop Dr Laura.com

"They think they can attack their community by day and enjoy themselves by night."

If they're doing what you propose then I want to know...I don't care what party they belong to...if it's a queer then we should know!

they are not demanding any action in exchange for keeping the secret

They are demanding the gay Republicans stop supporting a ban on gay marriage. That is a pretty clear demand.

?

blackmail is always based on facts: the inconvenient, embarrasing, compromising kind.

slander and libel are what I believe you are thinking of.

In this day and age, it doesn't really matter that someone in government is gay. So who cares if they're "outed"?

“What we need is people perceived as staunch Democrats, staunch Republicans and staunch independents who are saying, ‘I’m not even supporting my party,’” Aravosis said.

What party do "staunch independents" belong to? And what if these "staunch Democrats" don't support their party on gay rights -- is that what he wants to hear? Of course not.

Why can't gays be like heterosexuals and just live together?

Just being a sodomite doesn't implicitly mean support for sodomite marriage rights.
