ElBaradei wants Israel to discuss scrapping nukes

VIENNA, July 4 (Reuters) - The head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog, Mohamed ElBaradei, goes to Israel on Tuesday to try to persuade the Jewish state to open up its nuclear programme, but officials said Israel was not ready to scrap its atomic arsenal.

IAEA spokesman Mark Gwozdecky said it would be partly a "routine visit", but added that ElBaradei intended "to promote the concept of a nuclear weapons-free zone in the Middle East" -- clearly the central point of his talks.

"We need ... to rid the Middle East of all weapons of mass destruction," ElBaradei said recently. "Israel agrees with that, but they say it has to be after peace agreements. My proposal is maybe we need to start to have a parallel dialogue on security at the same time when we're working on the peace process."

Until recently, diplomats in Vienna said ElBaradei might try to persuade Israel to acknowledge it has nuclear weapons as a first step towards disarmament.

"ElBaradei may feel it's necessary to take a more balanced position and to focus some negative attention on Israel for remaining outside the (Nuclear Non-Proliferation) Treaty and for not opening up its nuclear facilities to inspections," said Valerie Lincy, an analyst at the Wisconsin Project on Nuclear Arms Control.

Compare this the way the UN coddles Iran and ignored Iraq's nuclear ambitions, not to mention not having done anything about N. Korea.

Jewish voters, please connect the dots:

It's clear that the UN is anti-Israel and pro-Arab- terrorist states, llike Iran. The UN is also corrupt, as they sold out to Saddam. There was mention of some papers that showed El Baradei was involved too, but then it was shoved under the rug.

It is also clear that Kerry wants the UN to decide everything.

The conclusion is that Israel and any pro-Israeli Americans should really be concerned if Kerry gets elected -- and most certainly should do everything to stop this from happening.

That's about as likely as UN observers watching our elections.

Of course Israel isn't going to give up their nukes.

But the point is that the UN is trying to pressure Israel, but didn't pressure Iraq, nor are they pressuring Iran.

A serious double standard.

Didnt Mo ask the US to consider scrapping our nuclear weapons not too long ago?

Especially considering the fact that the UN harbors known terrorists. If the USA and Israel were to leave the UN, I beleve a good many nations would follow within a few years.

This seems like a reasonable request:
El-Baradei: "Israel, scrap your nukes."

Israel: "No."

There, wasn't that nice?

My dad has a couple of good comments that fit nicely.

"It didn't hurt to ask did it?"

"Wish in one hand and crap in the other, guess which one fills up first."

Well the countries with nukes who want to use them want the countries who hold nukes for self defense to get rid of them. How this reminds me of gun control.

If I felt particularly malicious, I'd call it some sort of a joke... Sadly, it isn't a joke... UN, however, is a very sick joke...

It's total bllsht, a Kofi Annan shell game designed to create a justification for Iranian nukes. El Baredi is a conniving scumbag. The Islamic bloc controls the UN and has prolly threatened El Baredi (and his family) if he doesn't toe the line.

Moral of the story is never trust a Mohammedan to crack down on a Mohammedan nation pursuing nuclear weapons. But then y'all knew that already. /p>

"Despite the enthusiastic reception for his younger brother, John Kerry has yet to excite Southern California Jews the way past Democratic presidential candidates have, experts said. His wooden personality, occasional criticisms of Israel and vehement support for the United Nations — an organization viewed by many Jews as anti-Israel, have raised questions about the Massachusetts senator’s commitment to the community. Also, President Bush’s pro-Israel policies and toppling of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein have won over an increasing number of moderate and conservative Jews, experts said.

Elb can go fondle himself. Iran, Iraq, etc etc. I guess he has decided to go after an easy target. Being that the UN is anti-semetic anyway.

Easy. Just remove all the Arabs. Including the ones in top terrorist positions in the UN.

A guy named Mohamed wanting Israel to abandon its biggest defense.

I'm in shock.

Scrap nukes? Hmmmm, it sure is going to embolden arabs and even EU to war against Israel.

I think we should disarm the arabs first completely, then we can talk about scraping nukes.

So in my own mind I sum it up thus:

Israel is a sliver of scrub and beach, clinging to the Eastern edge of the Mediterranean like a splinter teetering on the edge of a storm drain.

Elements of the broader Arab or muslim world, which number 1 billion people as the press is fond of pointing out, and at least 22 separate countries, have tried repeatedly to destroy Israel.

Having failed 3 times to conquer it militarily, the muslim world continually uses the destruction of Israel and, by association, the destruction of Jewry as a point of public and foreign policy. They make no secret of their desire for a new Holocaust, and even highly visible leaders speak publicly and repeatedly of their desire for a world without Israel, without Jews.

How anyone can ask Israel to dispense with its nuclear weapons, when faced with its own destruction each and every day, is beyond me.

Israel will get rid of her nukes just after the word "launch" is commanded.
