Actor Richard Gere has criticised American President George Bush's policy to combat AIDs during an international conference.
He said the £100 billion to £150 billion spent on the Iraq campaign "probably could have eradicated this illness", the star of Pretty Woman and Chicago said.
Supporters of Mr Bush's abstinence policy also came in for criticism for trying to tackle the spread of AIDs.
Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni told delegates at the AIDs conference in Bangkok...

the £100 billion to £150 billion spent on the Iraq campaign "probably could have eradicated this illness", Um, Richard, I'm not sure you were aware of this, but there is no "cure" for any virus on this earth. Since AIDS is caused by a virus, how would this amount of money eradicate AIDS?

How? Even here in America, where everyone has heard of the common means to contract AIDS (unprotected sex w/ an infected person, transfusions, and sharing hypodermic needles), we still have groups of men who insist on unprotected anonymous sex in the bathhouses of San Francisco.
It's not the medicine or the research, ol' Richard. It's primarily behavior.

The disease will only be eradicated when the gay community takes responsibility for their deviant sexual practices. They wear aids like a badge of honor instead of a deadly disease which destroys the vast majority of their own.
