I agree. This is a story that may not pan out. We'll have to see if it does, but this news paper is probably every bit as reliable as, say, the NYT.

Ever see "Three Kings"?

Tech. advisors for the film (screenplay) tried to inject a sense of all the underground bunkers in Iraq.

I didn't watch the whole movie. I thought it was too much a Liberal Moore-like movie.

Yes, but even if there are nukes, they were old nukes from the first gulf war so Bush still lied.

I saw it before I grew to detest G. Clooney.

It is the desert. I wouldn't be surprised by the concrete bunkers, but who built the nukes? Is the engineer on the loose, or working for Bin Laden?

This is pure speculation, but I never understood why Saddam would have to build one. Why couldn't he buy one? When you're that rich, you can buy a lot of things.

Yeah, but there are only three, hardly weapons of mass destruction.

If this is true, it's a huge story that even the NYT won't be able to ignore or spin.

Wanna bet.

My translation of the broken english in this article seems to be saying that missles capable of delivering a nuclear warhead were discovered sans nukes.

I don't read it that way. First, a buried missile sans nuclear warhead does not need to be shielded from "ensitive scientific apparatuses". Secondly, the term "missile" outside the US is often used to describe bombs and other flying weapons that would absolutely not be described as a missile over here. The article's mangled expression "three missiles of nuclear heads" sounds to me to mean something more like "three nuclear warheads". However, I suspect that neither the reporter nor his source have the ability to determine whether these are in fact nuclear warheads.

All that being said, I think there is at best tiny chance that whatever may have be found will actually be anything like an operable nuclear device. I suspect that we will here nothing more about this "find". Pinging DEBKA...

First of all, what is a nuclear missile? A missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead? A missile with a live, functional nuclear warhead?

These things are not exactly easy to manufacture and transport. Where did it come from. The only plausible source would be the former Soviet Union. I would speculate that anything purchased on the black market would be a fraud.

This will be like the Oil for Food Scandal. It was reported in an Iraqi paper months before it was picked up by the MSM. Everyone in the US dismissed it.

I suspect they found something, but who knows if it's nuclear warheads or not. This may well be why Iraq requested the weapons inspectors to come back in.
