There are an awful lot of so called conservatives that think we can have the 19th ammendment and still live in a rational country.
I watch Mary Poppins with my kids and to me the biggest story in the whole show is that the wife is out trying to get the vote for women and the husband is allowing it to happen!!! OK I digress.
There was a very interesting post months ago that was a writing by a womens group that didn't want women to get the vote. They, like my wife, were very willing to not vote to keep the vote out of the hands of the rest of the women in the country. Their foresight was very interesting.
Blacks vote in even larger percentages for liberals than (especially white) women. Perhaps the "real conservatives" should also call for the abolishment of the 15th amendment.
Don't know the history of the movement well enough to know when it started, but Western society is at least many decades into the egalitarianism that got us where we are now. There's so much pressure, worldwide, and now for mulitiple generations (the real clincher) to believe against all practical evidence that women and men are just interchangable units with slightly different plumbing. Western feminism has hopelessly clouded the issues to the extent that young people must be exceptionally strong willed to ever reach conclusions like the one we're discussing. I take the eternal perspective, ultimately; all civilizations fall for one reason or another. It's just frustrating to watch one crumble around you when you can point out some of the stressors so easily.
