It's good to see a jury with some commonsense.

17 shots? Where the heck did this guy think all of those bullets were going? If one of them, say hit my kid I'd be pretty damn pissed!

No doubt about it he was justified in going after this mutt who tried to murder him in cold blood, but hells bells man, get CLOSER before you start pumping!

Spraying seventeen shots in the general direction of a perp does not seem like a particularly good idea.

Maybe next time he will try aiming.

In the absence of mens rea, there is no basis on which to charge Mr. Beck of, or convict him for, any crime. However, Mrs. Denmark is fully entitled to civil compensation by Mr. Beck for her injuries, pain and suffering. This is because Mr. Beck's need to defend himself, although it prevents his actions from being criminal, does not give him the right to injure any innocent person. One person's need never justifies violation of the rights of someone else.

The guy had already been shot in the head, I find it hard to judge his decision-making very harshly.

perhaps the store owner thought the van was a getaway vehicle and that the robber was trying to get in...

that's my story...

or would have been, but i do believe denmark is entitle to compensation from beck... but she should also thank him for saving her from logan...

The man shot an innocent person, he should be held responsible.

I don't get it. You can get charged with "accidentally" killing someone -- Manslaughter. But you can't get charged for "accidently" hurting someone?

"He had his driver's license, his keys and his address," Griffin said. "He was concerned about his mother."

I have a feeling this was an after thought by his attorney...a good one I must admit. I think Mr. Beck actually dodged two bullets in this deal. It sounds like he got a little wild with the chase and the shooting but all things considered, I'm glad he got the perp and avoided prosecution.

The prosecutor failed. Beck should have been charged with reckless endangerment, or the equivalent. He took no care to avoid shooting the woman. His shooting skills suck. Pray and spray idiots shouldn't be allowed to operate and should be punished when they shoot people when they don't have to.

Wow.... this is quite a story.

What state is this in? It'd be helpful to know in the headline when it is not obvious in the story.

Beck, a target shooter, grabbed his Glock pistol from a holster he had in a briefcase and chased Logan.

Nothing will screw up your aim and your judgement like being shot in the head. I'm glad all the innocent people in this story survived.

Ms. Denmark sounds like a flaming anti-gun lib, so gets very little of my sympathy. Put me on the jury if she sues.

Anyway, I searched Google News and naturally the MSM are completely ignoring the race of everyone involved, perhaps one of the most important motivating factors in the way people react to one another in America. And the media is totally silent about it . . . Way to go. Well, I'm sure I could win a bet on who's who and what's what in this story, and on what motivated Logan to shoot Beck in the first place and what caused Denmark to be angry about Beck not being charged.
