Kerry Rolls into Detroit by Justin Boudreau, Managing Editor, Canadafreepress.com
Press pass puts locals in an up-roar with picture of import car.
When one thinks of Michigan, it doesnt take a mental leap to think of cars. The American auto giants have been (pardon the pun) the driving force behind much of the states economy. Americans take a great deal of pride in their cars, and it isnt hard to see the direct ties between national pride and auto pride--especially in Michigan.
So when U.S. democratic presidential nominee John Kerry (no, he isnt even the candidate yet kids), made his "stump stop" in Detroit to rally supporters for his upcoming presidential run, his media people knew how to cater to the steel town boys. The speech was full of comments about hard working American labor, "Ive met steelworkers and mineworkers and autoworkers who have seen their jobs and equipment unbolted before their eyes and shipped overseas," Kerry said in his address to the National Urban League on the 22nd.
All was well until someone took a close look at the press pass for the event. The Campaign press pass featured a picture of an 100EX, a concept convertible car by Rolls Royce, a British-based German-owned company.
The campaign has made attempts at excuses and apologies for the mishap. The Kerry Edwards Campaign has been featuring locally inspired graphics on all their press passes across the country.
However, perhaps the best choice here would have been the jackass.

I should've known this wouldn't get past Free Republic!! HA! Great thread!!
Some Americans take pride in their automobiles. Others, well they drive Camry's, Accords and Sentras.
LOL!!! Too Funny!!!!
Oh, How I wish my printer was working.....I'd print that picture and sneak over to my neighbors and slip it under their doormat.....they just put up a JOHN KERRY for PRESIDENT sign, and a Patty Murray for Senator.....eeeeeekkkkkkkkkkk.
Not only is it a European car, it costs something in excess of $300,000 and is the UGLIEST Rolls Royce ever.
