Just got calls from two pollsters in row. I don't know the name of the first one but the name you mentioned sounds familiar. Mine was a recording. Asked me to press 1 if I was voting for Kerry or 2 for Bush. I pushed 2. The second question was if you are voting for Kerry is it because of #1 his stance on blah, blah, blah or #2 to send a message against President Bush. Of course, I can't press anything and it just keeps repeating the same thing over and over. Finally it disconnected.
Then two seconds later I get a phone call from Larkin Research (on caller ID) to question me about the movies I've seen lately (past 2 months). I haven't seen any. Then they wanted to question any kids aged 7-11 that have seen any movies at the theater in the last 2 months--my 7 year old hasn't seen any either and he isn't here right now anyway. The guy seemed a little stunned that nobody here had been to a movie recently. Last one we saw was Finding Nemo.
Then, they asked if I'd voted. Yes. They ask if I was registered as a Democrat or Republican. Republican. They ask if I'd voted for any Democrat in a national race in 2000. No. They asked how often I vote for Democrats (in any race) and I said "often," because Democrats locally are better on social and cultural issues than the local Country Club Republicans many times.
They asked how often I went to church and gave me a choice. They asked whether I listened to radio talk shows and named Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh as examples.
Then they said they would give me a list of people and wanted me to rank them (like strongly, dislike, dislike strongly, etc.)
They said "Tom Daschle." Dislike strongly.
As soon as I said that, they thanked me and then hung up.
I wondered who the other names on the list were supposed to be.
