The Return Of Reefer Madness
The Hartford Courant ^ | July 31st, 2004 | James J. O'Neill

I had to laugh the other night as my wife and I walked our dog. We were strolling through our nearly all-white upper-middle-class suburb singing, "No, no, no, no I don't smoke it no more/I'm tired of waking up on the floor," from the "No No Song" by Ringo Starr, when what to our wondering eyes did appear but a neighbor sporting a joint in his pickup truck.

Spying us, he finished his drag and quickly slid the roach into his truck's ashtray.

It did not take "Dragnet's" Joe Friday to crack this case. Any American who came of age during the last 30 or 40 years knows the telltale signs, especially the slow exhalation and the croaky "hello" he gave us, followed by the smell of smoke, but not quite of the Marlboro variety.

Does anybody even know anyone who gives a s#%% about what Big Stupid Government "thinks", before deciding whether to light up a joint?

The War on Some Drugs is simply another hyperexpensive, political-parasite full-employment boondoggle.

Another liberal article about wanting and fulfilling a non-conservative drug lust...

Yawn, find something constructive to do, start a book club.
This vice is no good for you, your family and not our country.

Be possitive, at least some of the producers of drugs are getting slaughtered during the war on terror! :-)

One of the main conclusions of the research was that people who start smoking cannabis as young adults were at the greatest risk of later developing mental health problems. Another study done by an associated team concluded that depression and schizophrenia in the United Kingdom's population could be reduced by 13 percent if marijuana use was eradicated.

Make it legal. With any luck, a sizable portion of the Dems will be to zonked to make it to the polls on election day.

It'll help the food service industry, too, what with so many people getting the munchies, thus boosting our economy. : )

Not very many brain cells left, doncha know?

I've been thinking that the solution to Fallujah and Ramadi is to airdrop massive quantities of marijuana.

the government should... focus their efforts instead on the drugs that result in ax murders.

You would think this wouldn't need to be stated.

I have no problem with anyone holding this opinion. That's your right. However, when the government wants to enforce this opinion at the barrel of a gun, I think we've got some bigger problems going on and you're missing the big picture.

You don't even begin to know what your talking about. Who do you think is smoking all that weed thats brought into this country or grown here. Just High School kids.

Lets see I've smoked with Professor, Lawyers, Cops, Financial Analyst, Electricians, Machinists, etc. People from all walks of life.

I made 70K last year , my wife made 50K. Married 19 years, two kids. I have two degrees and my wife has one. Daughter is straight A's and "Volunteer of the Year" for local childrens charity. My son does well in school and plays baseball, football, wrestling, hockey, and guitar. 10 days ago I saw him get his first Hole in one at age 11.

I enjoy a good joint as much as anyone. I'll do it when and whereever I choose and the Gubmint can kiss my @ss. Try pulling your head out of the sand. The weather is nice today.
