I don'd know how rapid it is, but I sure that there is a fairly measurable amount in 11,000 years (around 9,000 years BC). That being so, if Ireland measures the same at the present time, it would have been larger than Atlantis when Atlantis was around.

As for coastal deposition, no I did not. Not knowing Ireland I can't say if there is any saltmarshes; sand dunes; sand bars; barrier islands made of sand; etc., most of the pictures I have seen of the coast of Ireland shows rocks, cliffs, etc.

I've not read this one, but I like the cover blurb (I bought the "on tape" version for my dad during his final illness) -- the way the story starts, with the derelict ship, took me back to one of those "stranger than fiction" tales from Frank Edwards.

This is amazing!!

15 minutes ago I was drunk on Bushmills and beating my wife and kids and then I glanced this thread out of the corner of my eye.

I'd celebrate, but it's a long way to payday, and I spent the good part of it at the pub already.

Ireland is Atlantis? I'll donate my liver to the Notre Dame School of Medicine in honor of that./sarcasm

The problem was that Plato mistranslated the story.

You see, Atlantis (Ireland) was an advanced civilization that sank beneath the whiskey, not the waves.

And I have to admit, this has happened to me on more than one occasion.

I might have posted this info to you in the past....anyhoo..for those reading along..its an intersting Kodak of something.

God only knows what answers to questions we are asking today went up in smoke when the Spanish put the Mayan and other Meso American text records to the fire.

Several Codex's survive..allong with the Dominican and Franscican Monk lang trans and mythology redactl that occured.

One Codex has a picture of a Mayan paddling in a Canoe..with a Volcano errupting in the background.
This accompanied by a text record of the peoples transit from accross the waters to the new land[Home].
Atl Appears several times in the narrative as a descriptor...much like the Ancient Hebrew narrative form..of using dualist re-enforcement to give authentication which would be noted by later period Authority as legitimate...a form of code which was looked for to seperate *actual event ..from Hyperbola.

ie..."In the days of Jared...they descended upon the mountains of Hermon"
Jared[Yared in Hebrew]..means to descend downard from above.
Just a Noah was probably not the name of the individual in the flood story...his name becomes Noah...as redactl is used to convey an important point.
Noahs name means *Silent/quiet....no struggle
in other words...the end...acceptance...awe...submission.

From the Hebrew writers perspective....the Ancient of Days did infact act,

afterward...Mankind was silent...no more noise of rebellion.

There is a migration story in the Mayan/Meso-American account.
Then the adjoining theme of *Teachers/helpers who come from afar..to help mankind in *Reconstruction.

question now is...is this a one time reality?..or has it happened several times..in relation to Catastrophism>

Can we say with assurance..that *all mankind was at a Neolithic social state in average from 15,000 BCE- to early Bronze age.?

Yeah, the Aztec national myth included interesting details -- their ancestors fled Atzlan during a cataclysm, wandered under cloudy skies for generations, until they came across the portent foretold -- that they should settle when they found an eagle perched on a cactus devouring a snake. Tantalizing.

>>America was known long before most people think as well. the Asian's certainly had the ability to travel there.

Yeah. Cosidering they populated the entire two continents at the very least 12,000 years ago.

whats really weird though is how much footing the "land bridge" idea is losing (remains of cultures pre-dating the land bridge)

when i say travel there, i mean even in bamboo canoes.
