"Antimatter men" haunted comic books and TV science-fiction shows such as "Lost in Space" in the 1960s.
On the TV show, the fictional Professor Robinson encountered little more than a nonsensical "antimatter" version of himself.

Energy from particle annihilation could cut voyages by light years
And maybe we could make the Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs.

According to physical theory, the Big Bang, some 13 billion to 14 billion years ago, should have generated equal amounts of matter and antimatter. Yet according to astrophysicists, the cosmos consists almost entirely of matter. Where's all the antimatter? Check the democ-rat party after the election.

"......And maybe we could make the Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs......." I've always hated that line from Star Wars from the very first time I heard it back in the late 70's. Its a mistake in researching the vocabualry by Lucas.
The way it is said indicates Han is referring to TIME.
A 'Parsec' is a unit of DISTANCE.

We may have to take advantage of this. Pretty soon there won't be any more room in the US for us. We're being invaded. Maybe we relocate for a while. But,there'd better be room in the rocket ship for my five mini dachshunds and my cats. Otherwise I'm staying to defend the homeland.

Dumb question: What gives an elementary particle its charge, and if you could change the charge of a proton, say, from positive to negative, would you automatically have an anti-proton?

My friend sitting next to me in the theater groaned when he heard it. But they say Lucas was just having some fun with technical terms. One was the use of "restraining bolt" to mean a device to keep the droids from running away.

Ok, I can come up with a semi-plausible explanation:
1. If Solo was referring to a warping of space-time that shortened the percieved distance of a given unit of space that the Falcon traversed through to achieve the Kessel run, then achieving the Kessel run in 12 parsecs was a way of stating the performance of his hyper-drive.
Other explanation:
2. Lucas never took any physics and/or astronomy courses in college.

The concept of an "antimatter man" in our plane of existence is flawed from the get-go. For those in Rio Linda, "Antimatter meet matter, go BOOM."

The problem with anti-matter is that if you lose the system used to keep it away from matter, it will spectacularly destroy any matter that it comes in contact with. In other words, if the power goes out or the containment equipment breaks down -- BOOM!
