Let's see - a volcano collapsing off the African coast will send a sustained 100-foot tsunami thousands of miles.

OK.

This tsunami will potentially destroy the entire 2000 mile Eastern seaboard, even though the area of the volcano collapse is only a few square miles.

OK.

The volcano will apparently go out of its way to harm the US, but leave the coasts of Africa, Europe and South America completely untouched.

OK.

I guess if you have a degree you can make any crazy claims you like.

The timing of this is very suspect. The VRWC is attempting to draw attention away from Kerry's campaign. They must be stopped.

The tens of dollars of damage it could do to Africa and South America was not considered newsworthy.

It's over three times as bad as you thought.

You know how liberals are - malaria killing tens of millions of brown and black people: "ho hum." Overuse of DDT supposedly causing some damage to wild bird populations: "GLOBAL EMERGENCY!!"

You can find a less spectacular but still troubling analysis of the possible waves that could hit the US coast here.

"If you have a degree you can make any crazy claims you like."

This is not a crazy claim, it was documented in a television program on one of the cable channels. It is a hugh amount of earth that will eventually slide into the sea. This is the equivalent of you slipping into the bathtub. It sends a wall of water in the opposite direction. It is not really a matter of if, more a matter of when. The island earth mass is honeycombed with collected water which is leading to the certain slip into the sea.
